Hangar 5, Natural Lighting at the Service of Aviation

Located in Ezeiza Argentina, and designed by ASZ Arquitectos & MZM Arquitectos, Aerolineas Argentinas have successfully designed, built and commissioned one of the most modern aircraft hangars to date. The hangar spans a combined area of 12,017 m2, and houses a system of crane bridges that sweep the central area, which is also designed, to cover both the fuselage and sides of an aircraft.

The “Hangar 5” project, will allow simultaneous work to be carried out, on 2 “wide-body” aircraft or on four Boeing 737s, from both the 800 series and the MAX. The building was designed in an environmentally friendly way, as it incorporates a high-degree of natural lighting, derived from a Danpal translucent Façade System. Other methods employed to increase efficiency, included the use of low-energy LED lighting, as well as a rainwater collection and reuse system.

In the following lines of text, the architects who designed the project, share their experiences with us:

What was the original concept?

The concept consists of a metallic container building that houses and allows for, the performance of major maintenance tasks, of the largest commercial aircraft in the world: the Airbus 380.

How did you approach it?

It was necessary to consider all of the height restrictions for the building, as established by the aeronautical authorities. We also had to take into account, the dimensions of the airplanes, which informed the design of the structure, as well as the gates, pavements, etc. The maximum height of the building was further limited, due to restrictions resulting from a future track to be built near the hangar.

How was the vision realized?

In order to provide maintenance services to its aircraft fleet, Aerolineas Argentina’s business plan included the design and construction of a Hangar, in a sector of the industrial plant they own in Ezeiza. The original hangars were built 65 years ago, which made it essential, they adapt to new maintenance requirements and for larger aircraft.

How did the geography of the area affect the design?

It is a building of approximately 10,000 m2 of floor space, located in front of the taxiway. Its implantation had to take into account, the need for 50-meter regulatory withdrawals, for the runway and lateral platforms.

How did the geography of the area affect the build – challenges, unforeseen benefits etc.?

The space occupied was empty, with remnants of abandoned aircraft and landfill of old works. It was essential to survey the ground using georadar, to detect any possible interferences, both with current and obsolete facilities.

How did the Danpalon® (another system) contribute to creating the vision aesthetically?

From the first moment, it was our design intention to generate a blind metallic container, which could have the greatest gain of natural light, both at the front and at the gates. Our intention was also to enter into dialogue, with the existing hangars, which are all very different in their morphology, but which share this same concept of natural lighting. On the front of the building, is a metal gate with eight leaves of 10m x 25m each, which run to the sides on guides and rails. These gates are covered in Danpalon®, to complement the natural light at the entrance and from the skylights.

Hangar-5-Aerolineas-Argentinas

How did the Danpalon® (other system) assist in creating the vision/build technically?

Danpalon® was perfectly adjusted to the requirements and construction sequence. Although it was a complicated job, due to both the work done at height, and the winds in the area, its assembly was quick and concise.

What surprised you about the building upon completion?

The good quality of diffused light and the overall level of natural illumination produced, by the skylights and gates, was positively surprising. A system consisting of Danpalon® linear skylights was proposed, to help guarantee natural light both at the entrance, as well as over the entire surface of the hangar.

What if anything surprised you about the Danpalon®?

The general design that the product allows for, and lends itself to, is very interesting. Clearly, it is an element that contributes toward this being, a contemporary project.

How did you find working with Danpal®, both good and bad?

Dicky’s advice was very good, both during the project stage, and during the execution of the works.

Has the material worked in the way you expected in your original expectations?

The material exceeded our expectations. In a megastructure such as this, the material definitely enhanced its characteristics.

What comments do you have about the systems, good, bad, versatile, aesthetic, use, anything that crosses your mind?

It is a very versatile material. It can be used both for new works, as well as rehabilitation, and provides a contemporary sophisticated image.

How was your experience with Dicky?

The experience with Dicky was very satisfactory, and we will keep this in mind, in the future for new challenges.

What comments do you have about the advice and services provided by DICKY?

The advice provided was very complete. We also received samples of many of their products, which ultimately helped us choose, the correct elements for the project. We also have good graphic and written material, to solve all typical technical issues.

Would you recommend DICKY to other colleagues, what is the outstanding feature of our company?

Undoubtedly, I would recommend your products to other colleagues. We also believe that it is a product, which tends to help save energy consumption, whilst at the same time, promotes a modern architectural image.

Glass wall facade systems

One of the reasons that we’re always so eager for spring to arrive is that it feels as if someone suddenly turned on the lights!  After a long dark winter full of shadows, gloomy mornings and early nightfall, we’re thrilled when daylight begins to last longer. We love it when the evening comes and it’s still light out, and when we awake at our usual time but we’re greeted by daylight rather than darkness.  Danpal glass façade wall systems are a way that you can get a headstart on having more daylight inside. That’s because, even though winter casts a long shadow, you can still benefit from bringing in the natural light from outside.  Winter is still a long season, but at least, with our glass façade wall systems, you aren’t entirely dependent on artificial light inside your office or living space.

Glass Wall Façade Systems Keep Weather Out While Letting Daylight In

If we’re honest, we have to admit that, as much as we love being outside, it’s not always the perfect setting.  Weather can be unpredictable and a sudden rain shower can ruin our outdoor plans.  A day that’s too hot makes us lethargic and reluctant to exert ourselves. We all know that snow and hail and downpours send us scurrying inside. So no, nature isn’t perfect. But natural light, well, that’s another matter entirely. Or is it?  We love natural light, but we don’t like the glare. Danpal has found the solution to that because our glass wall façade systems bring in the best of the outdoors, which is the natural light, but the system is designed so that we can limit the glare. The diffusion of light creates the ideal indoor environment.

Insulated translucent wall panels

The wall panels that are used in Danpal facades create a façade that exhibits the superior performance that clients have come to expect from the veteran company, along with the remarkable inclusion of light  for which Danpal is well known. These insulated translucent wall panels are an attractive alternative to the traditional large glass windows that were often seen in the past. While those windows did admit light into an area, they were unable to block the accompanying glare that was an inevitable side effect of the natural light.  Danpal’s insulated translucent wall panels are designed to bring in the light and block the glare, as well as provide superior energy efficiency to the building.

translucent facade

The Advantages Of The Insulated Translucent Wall Panels

The translucent panels are designed to diffuse the amount of light that enters an area, creating a soothing glow that lends itself to the atmosphere that’s preferable for reading, writing, or quiet conversation. Because of the reduced glare, employees working at their desks can benefit from the natural light without suffering from irritating glare.  Danpal has developed panels that have shading functions; the settings for these panels can be adjusted to suit personal comfort levels for customers as well as workers.  The translucent facades have UV blockers to remove any harm that the sun could cause as well as lower the heat index.  Doing without the glare and the risk of sunburn is a bonus of Danpal’s insulated wall panels that glass fails to provide. The pure effects of the daylight without the glare free the window from the need for shades or curtains, which would reduce the benefits of the natural light that makes such a difference in the look and feel of a room or a work area.

The Thermal Properties Of Insulated Translucent Wall Panels

Danpathern is a façade system that is designed for excellent thermal properties so that it enhances in the storing of heat while also presenting a barrier to the wind and dirt that are outside.  Danpal products are celebrated for their superior thermal properties, which help the heating and cooling systems of the building.

Semi transparent facade

We hear a lot about “optics” these days. If a situation or a photograph doesn’t deliver a favorable connotation, we say the optics are bad.  In terms of the construction industry, Danpal knows how to deliver good optics. That’s because our façade systems are highly regarded the world over for the inviting way in which they blend light with color to create a weather-protection system that is also esthetically pleasing. Danpal’s semi-transparent façade systems are the ideal example of how something that’s designed for a specific function manages to bring beauty to its setting, and also demonstrate environmentally sound practices.

Danpalon Maximizes Daylight For Semi Transparent Facades

Danpalon is a semi-transparent system made of six layered polycarbonate panels that, by diffusing daylight, maximizes its impact.  This energy-saving system decreases the amount of CO2 that artificial lighting produces. The system is so well produced that it can avoid creating shadows inside; that’s because the light it produces is evenly diffused, not direct light.  This is a tremendous benefit to the employees in the workplace, as their productivity, along with their safety, are enhanced.  When the sun sets, the light within the extension building spreads outside, creating the impression of a light box at night.

Semi Transparent Facades Improve Energy Efficiency

The Microcell structure of Danpal facades is able to generate such improved thermal insulation that it leads to improvements in the building’s “U” and “R” values.  When these values go up, the energy efficiency of the building goes up as well. Improved energy efficiency means that you’re not wasting any of the heating and cooling that you use. This saves you money and saves the environment from escaping energy. Thanks to the visibility of the Danpal  commitment to excellence, you are helping to save the planet. How’s it feel to be a hero!

Polycarbonate skylight systems

Before polycarbonate was invented, architects depended upon glass to bring that striking visual effect to their designs. But glass, for all its beauty, has several serious drawbacks: it’s heavy; it’s not easy to work with; and it’s unable to withstand punishment.  That makes it a weak defense when attacked by the punishing forces of weather. The development of polycarbonate was a game-changer for architects and the construction industry. Now there is a product that is strong and attractive, easy to work with and easy to install, a product that is designed to withstand all the different forms of weather: pounding rain, heavy snow, damaging hail, and high winds.  For architects planning to add polycarbonate skylight systems to a structure, this is welcome news. For their customers, it’s an assurance that weather won’t interfere with the wellbeing of their workplace or home.

Polycarbonate Panels

The Versatility Of Polycarbonate Skylight Systems
Polycarbonate comes in two different forms: solid polycarbonate sheets, which look like flat glass sheeting; and multiwall polycarbonate, which has hollow chambers.  While the appearance of the  two forms is different, there is no difference in strength.  Polycarbonate is strong no matter what form it takes.

Polycarbonate Skylight System Strength
Weather is no friend to a building, but don’t worry that a skylight system won’t be able to withstand the brutal punishment of the elements. Danpal’s polycarbonate skylight systems are built to be strong. Polycarbonate is an impressively durable building material and the skylights that use it are strong as well as watertight. Polycarbonate can withstand a great range in temperature; it’s shatterproof; and it’s lightweight.  Weather can do a lot, but it can’t beat polycarbonate. The polycarbonate skylight system is a window to the sky above that lets you enjoy nature in its awesome might.

Naturalite skylight systems

You want to enjoy the great outdoors without actually being outside all the time. The workplace isn’t designed for an outside setup; schools, hospitals, offices are all dependent upon the amenities that come with inside settings. But sometimes, as you walk past the windows, don’t you wish that your daily routine included a bit more of the outside?  With Naturalite Skylight Systems, that wish can come true. Skylights are intended to bring in daylight to internal spaces and Danpal has been a pioneer in daylighting architecture.

Skylight Roofing

Naturalite Skylight Systems Bring In Natural Light
Studies show that exposure to natural light has a positive effect on people.  As an element of the workplace, natural light can increase productivity among employees and create a more pleasant overall environment. It may seem strange to think that the choice of a roofing system could have such a dramatic effect on the occupants below, but when you think about it, don’t you feel your mood improve when you go out into a bright, sunny day?  But you don’t have to worry that you’re going to be overwhelmed by glare as a result of more natural light coming in, because the system is designed to control the amount of light that comes in.

Naturalite Skylight Systems Are Strong Enough To Stand Up to Weather
People who are unfamiliar with skylights sometimes labor under the misconception that the impact of snow, rain, or hail will break through the skylight. That’s not at all true; Danpal building materials for skylights are incredibly strong and resistant to impact.  You’ll have a first-class view of the weather and what it’s doing outside, but you’ll remain safe and dry and warm inside.  So there’s no need to worry; your Naturalite Skylight System can handle Mother Nature.

Plastic facade panels

Different building materials, like anything else, enjoy different cycles of popularity.  We’ve come a long way since medieval times when building designers were limited to wood and brick if they were charged with constructing a massive project that would reflect the glory of the reigning monarch.  And as April 2019 fire at Notre Dame Cathedral proved, the stone walls and interior were able to withstand the blaze, but the wooden roof and spire could not. In today’s world, we have more durable materials to work with. One of those materials, polycarbonate, is used to make plastic façade panels that are part of  countless Danpal projects.

polycarbonate panel

The Advantages Of Using Polycarbonate For Plastic Façade Panels

Plastic façade panels must be stronger than the weather that pounds them on a regular basis and polycarbonate, which is 200 times stronger than tempered glass, has shown itself to be resistant to the elements. In fact, when polycarbonate is co-extruded with advanced inhibitors, it has the capacity to last the life cycle of the building. Polycarbonate thermoplastics are used for safety glasses, riot gear, sports equipment and bullet proofing, so that gives you some idea of just how strong they are.  Another advantage of polycarbonate is its flexibility; polycarbonate polymers are able to be curved organically so that they take on the shape of the building. This flexibility displays itself in another unique fashion; although polycarbonate materials are so much stronger than glass, they are actually less than half its weight.

Plastic Façade Panels And Thermal Efficiency

As a society, we are very conscious of the plight of the environment and energy conscious consumers strive to do what we can to protect the planet.  Plastic façade panels are one way to do that. When a polycarbonate thermoplastic is extruded into a multicell panel, it’s possible to achieve U-values below 1.0Ug (W/m2.K). Plastic façade panels made with polycarbonate materials can help a building achieve a green rating, something that’s a mark of excellence in our world today.

Patio kylights

Homes and businesses have evolved over the decades to the point where they sometimes bear certain resemblances to one another. Many residences include an office, where professional adults conduct business, especially if they work from home. Many businesses and commercial buildings have an outdoor area with tables and chairs where employees may gather in good weather to enjoy their lunches outside in a relaxed atmosphere, close to work but yet apart from it.  The outside environment of homes has taken on an expanded setting, too.  There was a time when houses had porches and yards and that was about it, but now, a residence may also have a sun porch or a patio. Here, families and friends gather together to savor a pleasant evening or a celebration without being at the mercy of the elements. A patio skylight can be especially accommodating for these events as it enhances the outdoor experience while providing shelter from rain and glare.

Skylight Roofing

Patio Skylights Are Polycarbonate Strong
Polycarbonate, a building material which has significant strength although it’s light in weight, was first used on conservatory roofs but its popularity has expanded to the point where it’s also a favorite choice for greenhouses, solariums, and sun porches.  Of course, it’s also commonly used in other commercial structures as well, but its use in outdoor structures shows that it offers that ideal blend of indoor/outdoor appearance and strength that’s so well suited for things like patio skylights. One reason that polycarbonate is the building material of choice in these structures is because many of them would not be able to support roofing made of a heavier material.

Patio Skylight Lighting
Polycarbonate bears a striking resemblance to glass, but its strength and flexibility exceed the limitations of glass, which is heavier and also prone to scratching. A patio skylight might have translucent or transparent panels which also serve to further develop the outdoor ambience.

Kinetic Facade Buildings

Once again, Danpal leads the way in innovation with the development of our kinetic panel, the first of its kind. This panel’s color-shift technology blazes a new path for design possibilities that couldn’t have previously been imagined.  Credit goes to the engineers at the Danpal research and development team who met the challenge of developing a panel with unique esthetic appeal.  It was at the October 2019 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber, during the EPSE Awards Competition at the Dusseldorf K Fair that Danpal was honored in the Innovation category for our Danpalon Kinetic panel.

Kinetic Façade Buildings: Studio Legal Terrero & Mejía

Seeking to generate a new image for an existing structure, the Studio Legal Terrero & Mejia, architect Oscar Torrejón relied upon the concepts of the future, of innovation, and of quality in order to carry out the refurbishment of this building.  Utilizing the characteristics of the materials, the Danpalon Kinetic panels, the architect created an interior space with a greater sense of size and lightness. Within, elements that distorted the overall global objective were eliminated in order to unify the materials that were used.  The objective was to create a flexible workspace surrounded by a unique façade and a waiting room with the aim of reflecting the evolution and growth of the Studio Legal Terrero & Mejia. Danpal innovative materials and the architect’s vision made it possible to create a building which would honor the memory of the previous structure while becoming a point of reference at the national and regional levels for this Dominican Republic architectural icon.

Danpalon Kinetic Façade Buildings
Torrejón had praise for the characteristics of the Danpalon Kinetic material and its technical qualities. The variety of colors and textures enabled the architectural team to generate a balanced array for the volume and bring an updated image of the space.

You can count on Danpal to deliver the cutting-edge materials that are already working to design the architecture of the future.

Impact resistant skylights

Most of the time, when we think about weather issues, we consider the problems caused by heavy rains, which often create havoce3444 as basements flood and in severe cases, rivers overflow, leading to catastrophic damage at great cost.  Then there’s snow, which brings its own set of weather issues to consider. Hail doesn’t happen as often as rain and snow, but everyone is familiar with it.  Hail can cause damage to cars, aircraft, even livestock! The damage that hail inflicts on roofs often goes unnoticed, however, until a leak develops.  Roofing systems need protection from the potential damage that weather can cause and this is one of the many areas where Danpal expertise saves the day. Danpal’s impact resistant skylights are durable so that they can resist the possible damage hail can cause.

Impact Resistant Skylights Stand Strong Against Weather

Impact resistance is one of the many features of Danpal’s weather protection arsenal.  Danpal’s impact resistant skylights are strong enough to keep weather out, and prevent hail from causing damage to the roof.  It’s flexible and light to work with, but once it’s in place, it becomes a fortress that guards against the rain, snow and hail. The Microcell technology that’s used in the panels has been tested for strength and proves itself superior to other building materials when it comes to defending against weather.

Impact Resistant Skylights Have Other Features That Impress

The ease of installation of a Danpal skylight roofing is also true when it’s being fitted onto metal or concrete; its versatility and flexibility work together.  Installation is also facilitated by the customization of the roofing, so that it’s available in a wide range of lengths and sizes. The Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System  can be placed over a metal structure, with aluminum framing options, or it can be self supporting.

Glass curtain wall systems

There’s a lot that we don’t like about nature. We don’t like the pounding rainstorms that lead to dangerous storms and winds. We don’t like the heavy snowfalls and blizzards that travel across the region as if they’re invading.  We don’t like the hail that strikes the roofs of our vehicles. We don’t like the wild winds that can uproot trees and scatter their branches all over the place. What we do like about nature is the light.  How we feel when we wake up in the morning sometimes may depend on whether it’s a gray day outside, or we wake to the first rays of the sun rising .  in the sky. Danpal’s glass curtain wall systems are designed to allow the best of nature, the  light, to be brought inside, while keeping the worst of nature outside.

Glass Curtain Wall Systems Give Us More Natural Light

If you can spend your day in an environment where you aren’t entirely dependent upon artificial light in order to see, don’t you find yourself feeling better? It’s more than health, it’s a holistic signal from the natural realm that we are an integral part of the universe. Some weather can sometimes depress us, but natural light uplifts us.

Glass Curtain Wall Systems Don’t Surrender To Weather

Have you ever stopped to count the number of times you’ve made a complaint about the weather over the course of a year?  Each season brings its own litany of complaints; even summer, which can often be too hot for comfort, sending us hurrying inside to take refuge in air conditioning. But we’re just as dissatisfied during the cold of winter, the sudden rains of spring, and the winds of autumn that strip the leaves from the trees before they have a chance to fall on their own. If a building could talk, imagine how it would have cause to complain about weather.  Yet it endures the elements and, thanks to the strength and durability of Danpal’s glass curtain wall systems, doesn’t give in to weather.

Double wall polycarbonate sheet

Seen from the outside, a building that’s designed well and made with quality products appears to be a compact unit.  There’s no way to see, from the outside, all the individual pieces that are in play within to keep the building standing and functioning.  When you glance at the Magic Cube in France, you immediately notice the brilliant colors that give the structure such a dynamic appearance.  You might even detect, if you’re familiar with Danpal’s world-renowned reputation for developing quality materials, the brand of a company that has imprinted its excellence on every structure that’s made using its products.  But you aren’t noticing the internal pieces that make the building one which is durable, weather-resistant and energy efficient. What you don’t notice is at the heart of the Danpal name.  The double walled polycarbonate sheets are the reason why the weather stays out and the heat and cooling stay inside. Knowing that, you can appreciate the achievement that Danpal accomplishes by uniting quality with strength.

How the Double Wall Polycarbonate Sheet System Works

Keeping insulation dry is central to a building’s architectural health.  Danpal wall cladding uses a double wall polycarbonate sheet system to safeguard a building’s insulation so that the moisture that weather leaves behind does not invade the internal space.  Danpal wall cladding is designed with an air gap to provide natural ventilation; the convective motion is what keeps the insulation moisture-free.  Double-notching, connector-bound microcell polycarbonate sheets give a building the invisible muscle that keeps rain, snow and hail from penetrating the exterior barrier.

Double Wall Polycarbonate Sheet Protection

You don’t notice it. You don’t notice that an invisible army is protecting the building from the damage that weather can do. You can admire the beauty of a building and appreciate its function.  But at Danpal, we make it our business to reinforce what you can’t see with the expertise we’ve gained after over a half century of developing innovative products.

Double skylight

You love the appearance of a skylight roof. You’re worried about how well a skylight roof can stand up to weather, especially in an area where high winds and heavy snows are part of a normal winter season.  Danpal products are made to withstand weather when storms and winds strike. A double skylight can alleviate some of your concerns. We’ll fill you in on the strength and durability of our Danpatherm RK 7 double-glazed roofing system. The more you learn, the more you’ll be convinced that double skylights are the way to go.  Superior thermal insulation, less reliance on artificial light, reinforced protection against weather—all these plus the satisfaction of having daylight under your roof!

Controlite® Skylight Roofing: Comfort, Control, Energy Conservation

Double Skylight Roofing Benefits
The Danpatherm RK7 offers some unique advantages that will ease your mind about weather concerns. Long spans are possible thanks to the matchless wind and snow load resistance of the system. And, because of the double wall, the rain won’t be as noisy.  The appearance of the double skylight roofing system is exceptionally clean due to the hidden glazing columns. The thermal insulation is exceptional, and installation is easy; that’s because of the pre-fabricated cassettes at the factory.

Double Skylight View
At this sports complex in France, the impressive results of Danpatherm RK7 can be seen. Sunlight enters the sports complex during the day so that the amount of artificial light can be reduced.  The building is not heated when it’s not being used. Thanks to the thermal insulation of the system, about 15 degrees is sufficient when it is in use. If the temperature becomes too warm, the warm air is extracted by the natural ventilation system on the roof.  The double skylight system is as economical for your energy use as it is pleasing for your esthetic appreciation.

Curtain glass facade system

Danpal façade systems are one of the exciting ways that our products have redefined the construction industry.  The outer walls of the system are designed not for a structural role but to prevent weather from penetrating inside.  The advantage of having a curtain glass façade system is the way that natural light can be a visible presence inside the building.  Danpal, a pioneer in daylighting architecture, creates façade systems which incorporate light into the building, nurturing an atmosphere where the occupants both see better and feel better. If you have to be inside working, isn’t it better to have daylight inside with you?

Curtain Glass Façade Systems Prevent Moisture From Getting Inside

In order for a building to function at its best, its insulation must remain dry.  This can be a challenge if the building does not have adequate protection against weather. Snow and rain are powerful forces of nature, and if they manage to intrude into the interior of a building, it won’t take long before moisture makes itself at home in the insulation, compromising its ability to maintain energy efficiency.  The double-click locking seam’s higher load resistance is part of the protection against weather.  The snap-on connections are the means by which weather remains outside instead of getting inside.

A Curtain Glass Façade System Can Keep Moisture Dry
When moisture attacks insulation, there are several different outcomes, none of them good.  The insulation is no longer able to maintain a consistent flow of energy within the building. You may find that you have to adjust the temperatures for heating and cooling. That’s because energy is escaping from within the building. Wasted energy is one of the threats to environmental safety. Paying for wasted energy is also a threat to your economic well-being; check your utility bills to see if you’re paying more than you should be.  There are a lot of things you want to spend your money on, but wasted energy isn’t one of them!

Multiwall polycarbonate roofing sheets

If you look at a building from the vantage point of its roof, you’ll soon realize that if weather were a war, a building would be the frontline troops. That’s because the rain, snow, and hail that surge out of the sky on an inclement day strike the roof without any interruption in their progress to the ground far below.  Danpal knows that in order to stand up to this kind of punishment, a roof has to be strong.  The Centro Acuatico Estadio Nacional CAEN in Chile is an example of the way that a roof can be both strong in purpose and appealing in appearance. That’s why Danpal’s multiwall polycarbonate roofing sheets work like a medal of honor for a building’s protection against weather. Esthetics and strength come together to define a building that performs to the peak of its design without letting weather get the upper hand.

polycarbonate panel

Multiwall Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets and Strength
Polycarbonate is available in two types, multiwall and solid.  Multiwall polycarbonate roofing sheets are made of hollow air chambers; solid polycarbonate is a clear, flat sheeting. In both cases, polycarbonate is incredibly strong; it’s been hardened to the point where it’s 200 times stronger than glass, although it’s half the weight. With an ability to withstand elevated resistance levels, polycarbonate makes a roof much stronger.

Multiwall Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets and Flexibility
It’s easy to perceive the advantages of working with a building material with superior strength that, at the same time, is light in weight.  Installing a roof doesn’t have to be the inconvenient, time-consuming operation that it is with other roofing materials.  Multiwall polycarbonate roofing sheets take much less time to install. Time saved is money saved. In the end, everybody wins.

Large Polycarbonate Sheets

Modern research and development have yielded technology that has transformed building materials. As a leader in the building industry and, moreover, a company that has steadfastly invested in its engineering and design departments, Danpal has been in the vanguard of this research. There was a time in the past where building materials were traditionally heavy and unwieldy. But now, architects are able to unleash their creative ideas with materials that are flexible and customizable, such as large polycarbonate sheets. The result is a building which is strong, attractive, and a focal point of the community in which it is located.

polycarbonate panels

The Flexibility of Large Polycarbonate Sheets

First, consider the strength of polycarbonate. It looks like glass but is 200 times stronger and half as heavy.  The advantages of working with a material like this are apparent.  Glass has many esthetic qualities which are prized by architects, but because of its weaknesses, breakability and rigidity, it does not readily lend itself to the kind of creativity that architects prize. Compare that to polycarbonate.  The larger the size of the polycarbonate sheet, the greater the radius of the bend.  Large carbonate sheets are particularly effective if your building has an arching roof. It’s virtually unbreakable, unlike glass, and yet it can bend, also unlike glass.  You’ve seen polycarbonate many times; it’s not only used in construction, but also to make security screens, farm machinery, moving machinery parts and windshields.

Beauty and Flexibility Work Together with Large Polycarbonate Sheets

As displayed in the Banana Leaf  structure in Sri Lanka, even the humble roofing system can be esthetically pleasing with large polycarbonate sheets that allow for the expansive space of a roof and the color and appeal of appearance. It’s easy to see why architects are such fans of polycarbonate and why, more and more, it shows up in projects all around the world.

We live on a big planet. Technology and global interaction have made distance less of an obstacle than it was in previous centuries, and cultures are more familiar with one another’s ways than in the past.  At Danpal, where our company operates on five continents, we aren’t just familiar with the different cultures where our business is located, we’re also familiar with the climate of those continents we call home.  International commercial interaction has developed our respect for the different nationalities who buy our products because, despite the differences, people who are building homes and businesses have a great deal in common.  Whether you’re located in the desert or the rain forest, you know your weather. So does Danpal. That’s why we’re proud to introduce new clients to our curtain wall face systems, or as we’re pleased to call them, the best-looking weather protection in the construction business!

CURTAIN WALL SYSTEMS

CURTAIN WALL FAÇADE SYSTEMS FIGHT THE WEATHER BATTLE
The curtain wall systems don’t play a structural role in the design of a building, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have an important part to play in its vitality.  Thanks to Microcell technology, a curtain wall façade system can keep weather elements like moisture from having a devastating effect on your building.  And then there’s the damage that hail can do to a structure, if not for the protection offered by curtain wall façade systems.  If you want your building to enjoy a long and healthy structural life, you’re going to want to install the defense that it needs.

THE BEAUTY OF DANPAL CURTAIN WALL FAÇADE SYSTEMS
Color adds a dynamic flourish to a building and the Danpal inventory of colors is like an artist’s palette.  There’s the rainbow of different colors to choose from, but we also offer different shades to show nuance and contrast.  With these features, a building takes on an identity that enlivens the community. It doesn’t matter if your design is traditional, modern, or quirky, Danpal has a color for it!

Frameless glass facade

A building isn’t just a home or a workplace. It has a function, certainly, and the architectural design establishes the performance which the building needs to provide.  But a building is also an investment, something to be protected and nurtured. As is the case with any investment, there are threats to a building’s safety and structural health and value.  Proper maintenance, sufficient weather protection, and attention to the appearance of a building all play a role in keeping the structure in peak condition.  When an architect works on the design for the building, he or she has to be alert to the ways in which the structure can maintain its worth. Frameless glass facades are one of the ways for buildings to display a modern appearance that helps keep its value as years go by. Instead of a stodgy design which seems to look back on a time long ago, a building with a frameless glass façade looks to the future.

Façade Materials

How Appearance Is Upheld With A Frameless Glass Façade
Frameless glass facades have a contemporary look that is very inviting and attractive.  They display a neat, uncluttered appearance that can set a positive image if the building is a place of employment. The contemporary appearance also benefits the image of a workplace building.

Danpal Quality Gives Strength To Frameless Glass Facades
There is a misconception that because frameless glass facades lack reinforcing frames, they are weaker and less capable of withstanding weather when it strikes with full force. But Danpal, with our reputation for high-quality production of materials, can reassure you that this is not the case with our frameless glass facades. Because of the durable materials that we use, our frameless glass facades are able to stand up to rain, snow, hail and wind.

Skylight cladding

Skylights show us the beauty of the world beyond our windows, the majesty and power of nature which, even when it is at its most violent and furious, inspires a sense of awe within us as we watch lightning streak across the heavens, or see the world turn white as snow falls.  Cladding reminds us that those manifestations of weather, stunning though they might be to our eyes as we watch from inside, have consequences that we don’t always see right away. That’s what happens when a building’s defenses fail to provide protection from weather penetration, allowing moisture to invade a structure’s interior and compromise insulation. Skylight cladding gives us the ability to watch nature, safe in the assurance that it’s going to stay outside our walls.

Wall Cladding

Skylight Cladding Stops Leakages
We don’t always give skylights the credit they deserve for how well they prevent rain and snow from intruding into our workplaces and homes. But Danpal skylights are designed to be watertight and airtight so that  moisture from rain and snow can’t get inside. Moisture leads to mold, and once mold makes its way into damp moisture, it continues to thrive within a building, reaching the point where it can actually do harm to the occupants within who suffer from respiratory ailments.

Skylight Cladding And Natural Light
The real charm of a skylight, of course, is the way it transmits light so that we can enjoy natural light from within the confines of our working and living spaces.  The appeal of skylight cladding isn’t just from its esthetic appeal, though. It also helps maintain energy efficiency so that we’re only using the heating and cooling we need and not allowing wasted energy to escape. By joining Mother Nature with Microcell technology, Danpal has created skylight cladding that pleases everyone.

Skylight Glass

Danpal, in its 50 years as a leader in the building industry, has been part of the movement which has seen the growing popularity of skylights.  People who feel cooped up in an office all day want to have some way of enjoying the natural light that is so beneficial to our health and wellbeing. Skylight glass, by allowing more natural light into a building, is a way that the people occupying a structure can have the best of both worlds: it has the protection from the elements that we need in order to be productive and efficient, and at the same time, it gives us that boost that lifts our spirits.

Skylight Glass Is Strong Enough To Withstand Weather

Danpal technology has created skylight glass that is designed for weather-fighting performance.  Even though snow and rain are powerful forces of nature that are capable of causing great damage, Danpal skylights are strong enough to handle the elements. Although polycarbonate, which is used in Danpal skylights, is 200 times stronger than glass, it’s also half as heavy.  This amazing formula has made it possible for skylights to be stronger and more flexible than ever.

The Benefits Of Skylight Glass For People

We can’t say enough about how beneficial natural light is for all of us.  No building company can make a claim to have invented the benefits of natural light; they have been in existence ever since the dawn of life on our planet.  Sunlight brings warmth and comfort, but it also provides us with an intangible feeling of energy and optimism, a sense that we can accomplish more on a sunny day than we can on a dreary one.  When the natural light from the sun is brought indoors, it leads to an increase in productivity that makes us all feel better about ourselves and our accomplishments.

Skylights for metal roofs

Flexibility in materials can make an enormous  difference if an architect is designing a new building or planning renovations to an existing structure, particularly if the renovation includes a skylight. Fortunately, Danpal building products and flexibility are a matched set in the construction industry. Architects know that when it’s a matter of flexibility, customization, or ease of installation, Danpal leads the way.

How Danpal Flexibility Works In Skylights For Metal Roofs
Committed to the idea that building materials need to be flexible in purpose, Danpal has created skylights that can accommodate different types of roofing.  Skylights for metal roofs are no challenge, that’s something that Danpal readily makes happen. Danpal skylight roofing easily slots into place, continuing the pattern of flexibility.  With the Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System, the skylight can be self-supporting or it can be place on top of metal roofing. The system can also be installed on different sizes of spans by using aluminum framing options. The unlimited lengths and sizes of Danpal roofing, all part of the company’s customization emphasis, are easily integrated for smooth installation.  In fact, the whole installation process is so much more efficient than what is customary, with less inconvenience and interruption of routine.

SKYLIGHTS FOR METAL ROOFS LET IN DAYLIGHT
The presence of a skylight metal roof doesn’t inhibit the way that natural light enters the building.  With the skylight’s even diffusion of natural light comes support for thermal insulation and extended UV protection. The Danpavault Barrvel Vault Skylight System actually admits more light than what other systems can provide, but Danpal engineering balances the light and shade so that the results reflect your preference. Danpal has mastered the art of daylighting architecture and the clients benefit from the results.

Translucent cladding & Natural light

In order to keep a building strong and able to fulfill its purpose, it needs to have protection from weather. It must protect the insulation inside so that moisture doesn’t gain a foothold on the building’s interior and cause problems. The comfort and wellbeing of the occupants of a building is of vital importance in the function of a building.  All of these items are priorities for the architect as the design process gets underway.  But there is another aspect of architectural design and that includes the appearance of a building.  A structure is, if it’s well constructed, going to occupy space in a community for some time.  It should add to the appearance of the area in which is it located so that the occupants as well as the neighbors can benefit from its presence.  Translucent cladding is one of the ways in which a building can perform its function, fulfill its purpose and also display its own unique character.

wall cladding

Translucent Cladding:  Letting the Light In
Translucence is the in-between stage. Transparency means that we can see through something; opacity means that our view of something is entirely blocked from sight. That makes translucent cladding especially appealing in terms of construction: we don’t want buildings that we can see through, and a building with no view at all would be grim.  Translucent cladding lets the light in and, thanks to the miracle of construction technology, how much light comes in depends upon your preference.

The Beauty of Translucent Cladding
in the United Kingdom’s Blackburn Youth Zone Center, we see the extraordinary traits of translucent cladding. It’s a building where light enters the interior structure from outside; not so much that the building is overwhelmed with glare and not so little that it’s not even noticed.  The translucent cladding adds natural light to the interior space of a building. This natural illumination has an enormous effect on the mood of the occupants inside; extra natural light in a living or working space enhances a person’s productivity and sense of well being.  Imagine living or working in a building where the addition of natural light can have a positive effect on your mood!

Translucent cladding

For the best example of how translucent cladding can transform a physical structure into something that evokes the uplifting beauty of the outdoors, look no further than the Welsh National Sailing Academy in North Wales. It exemplifies what the Ellis Williams Architects of Liverpool describe as the principle of “form following function.”  The architecture is definitely inspiring, in part because of the way in which translucent cladding allows natural light to become part of the interior design. The Welsh National Sailing Academy is located near the Irish Sea, where the coastal winds can be fierce. But thanks to the strength of Danpalon® translucent polycarbonate panel system, the building can keep the weather out and let the daylight in.

Rainscreen Cladding

Danpalon® Translucent Cladding Is Efficient

Danpal products are widely known for their superior quality and efficiency, and our translucent cladding boasts of the same attributes.  The thermal properties provide an excellent level of energy usage, sparing the environment from wasted energy. Danpal cladding is strong enough to keep moisture from threatening the insulation of a building.  When insulation is compromised by moisture, mold finds a home in which it thrives. Mold can cause health problems for people who suffer from respiratory conditions such as allergies and asthma. By keeping the interior of a building free from moisture, translucent cladding improves the life span of the structure as well as the health and safety of the occupants within.

Daylighting with Translucent Cladding

Danpal has been a pioneer in the area of daylighting architecture and the results show that architects welcome the opportunity to bring natural light into their designs. Translucent cladding, because of its role in adding natural light to indoor living and working spaces, contributes to the improved wellbeing of the building’s occupants. People find that they are more productive and more optimistic when they have access to natural light.

Translucent exterior wall panels

The exterior of a building has quite a job to do in order to protect everything on the interior of the structure. It has a functional role in the performance of the structure. It must be strong enough to withstand the onslaught of weather—pouring rain, heavy snow, damaging hail, high winds—that comes along with the seasons. It must also present an attractive appearance that suits the neighborhood in which it is located. If it does all these things, then the exterior can be relied upon to do its job.  Part of the arsenal of defense that a building uses in this mission includes the translucent exterior wall panels which define the success of the structure. That success, proven by the popularity of the product, takes the performance of the panels and highlights it with an impressive visual appeal that expresses the architect’s creative inspiration.

Curtain Wall System

Translucent External Wall Panels Are Weather Barriers
Microcell technology is the magic weapon that Danpal uses to produce its translucent external wall panels, to make them strong enough to hold off the punishment that the four seasons of the year can inflict on a building.  Danpal translucent panels also include UV protection from the effects of the sun so that, no matter what weather action is going on in the sky, the building has a defense.

Translucent External Wall Panels  Create Esthetic Appearances
Danpal products consistently deliver on performance, standing up to the elements throughout the year. In addition, they also look good while they’re doing it. Architects treasure Danpal’s sense of color and creativity in developing translucent external wall panels that balance light and offer tonal qualities so that the finished result matches the designer’s original vision.

Translucent polycarbonate sheets

In order to view the full impact of translucent polycarbonate sheets, take a look at the Blackburn Youth Zone Center in the United Kingdom.  The extraordinary beauty of the structure demonstrates the way that daylighting architecture, joined with the translucent polycarbonate sheets, creates a building that is an architectural delight. You want to build the best building possible for your clients, while ensuring that the final results produce a structure that adds to the community in which it is located.

polycarbonate sheets

Danpal, a company with over a half century of experience in the building materials market, prioritizes the esthetics of a structure highly, without diminishing the value of its strength and its environmental compliance. Translucent polycarbonate sheets are at the core of this trifecta of quality.

STRENGTH AND FLEXIBILITY AT WORK
Translucent, dry-glazed systems are available for an assortment of structures in a variety of configurations.  The translucent polycarbonate sheets are able to offer the kind of weather protection that’s needed. Weather can be an extreme event as our changing climate creates ever-more-powerful storms, but Danpal has discovered a way to incorporate strength with flexibility so that the sheets are easy to work with.

BALANCING LIGHT AND THERMAL DYNAMICS
The translucent polycarbonate sheets offer so many favorable aspects that it has become much more popular than glass. Actually, polycarbonate’s composition is superior to glass in its flexibility, transparency and tonal qualities.

Esthetics Add to the Appeal of Translucent Polycarbonate Sheets
Danpal® is known for the esthetic appeal of its building materials; this feature is enhanced by the versatility of translucent polycarbonate sheets which can turn a building into an artistic achievement.  That’s because the company offers an impressive array of colors, special effects and finishes to give an architect the options needed for creative expression.

Translucent roofing material

In the process of creating a building design, an architect envisions the structure long before construction has begun. The architect must build in accordance with code specifications and environmental needs and the visual appearance of the structure, along with the actual function for which the building is designed. But a Danpal project includes one other very special, very important additional item: how much daylight does the client want the building to have?  Danpal’s translucent roofing material allows a building to provide the necessary requirements of an indoor dwelling, along with that added feature that turns daylight into a building material. By the time the building is finished and the sun is shining, the occupants are living or working in a structure that has made a friend of the daylight.

The Advantages of Translucent Roofing Material
Polycarbonate is a building material that can either be translucent or transparent.  Its durability, combined with its spectacular capacity for admitting light to enter an internal space, have made it particularly popular with greenhouses, solariums, patio rooms and sun porches. These are structures which require the presence of light, which is why polycarbonate is such an effective translucent roofing material.  They’re also buildings that would be unable to support roofing made of heavier materials, which makes polycarbonate uniquely suited for these structures.

The strength of Danpal’s translucent roofing material, coupled with daylighting architecture, creates a structure that is as beautiful to look at as it is impressive in its ability to withstand weather.  At first glance, the view of Cambodia’s Angkor Shopping Arcade – Phnom Phen treats the eye to a stunning visual image. But when you consider that Cambodia has a dry season and a rainy season, where monsoons are to be expected, it’s easy to realize that this building has been designed not only for beauty but for durability as well.

Translucent skylight

What do you think of when you hear the phrase “optimizing daylight”?  You might not think, at first, that it’s possible to optimize daylight inside a physical structure, but that’s where the wonder of Danpal’s daylighting architecture and translucent skylights come into play.  Controlite®, the Intelligent Daylighting System by Danpal, is an advanced system that hands over complete control of the level of indoor light that you desire to you, no matter the time of day or season of the year. With translucent skylights, you can welcome in natural light without weather.

Translucent Skylights Are Strong Enough To Withstand Weather
If you choose to include translucent skylights in your architectural design, don’t worry that you’re sacrificing performance for esthetics.  Danpal’s translucent skylights demonstrate the same level of quality and durability as all the other Danpal products. Panels are sized so that larger skylights, like the kind that are used in public and commercial buildings, are strong and sturdy and able to withstand the ferocity of weather, even if it’s a driving rain or a heavy snow, damaging hail or high winds.  Controlite® is a roofing system that is designed to withstand the harsh weather and also extremes in temperature.

Translucent Skylight Panels Optimize Levels of Daylight Transmission
Controlite® can adapt to the changing conditions of the light throughout the day. By doing that, you can control shade, solar heat gain, and indoor light so that you determine the level of light that’s comfortable for you.

Supporting Sustainability and Energy Conservation with Translucent Skylights
We live in a time of unprecedented awareness about the environment and climate change.  One of the simplest ways to promote energy conservation in our own lives is to be careful stewards of the amount of energy that we consume.  With translucent skylights, we can share some of that responsibility with the buildings where we work and live. The optimization of daylight lets you reduce the amount of energy that’s consumed because daylight itself can positively affect the amount of air conditioning and heating that you need.  Because the Controlite® system panels integrate into the energy efficient building design, you and your building become allies in the battle for sustainability and responsible energy usage.

Transparent facade systems

Danpal’s transparent façade systems give you the unique advantages that you expect from a stellar company with more than a half century of expertise in the building industry.  Some of those advantages include the pure transparency of the façade; it’s waterproof, impact resistant and light weight; the ease of installation; and the length of the panels that can be curved on the worksite. You’ll be interested in learning more about the performance and appearance of this excellent Danpal product.

Translucent Facade

How Total Transparency Enhances the Danpal Transparent Façade Systems
Glass is a popular building material. It’s also a building material which has built-in weaknesses; it’s not flexible to work with and it is prone to scratching. But what if you could use a stronger material which has the appearance of glass with far more strength? The good news is that you do have that stronger material. Danpal Compact, a 4mm thick solid panel possesses strength, flexibility, light weight, UV protection, and insulating and curving abilities, along with the appearance of glass. When you can have exactly what you want in a transparent façade system, along with the strength that you need, you know you’re going to be satisfied.

How Danpalon Panels Affect The Transparent Façade Systems

Strength and beauty, when they work together in equal measure, combine to create a transparent façade system that is seamless.  Speaking of seams, it’s the Danpalon panels, with their standing seam connection system, that offers architects such freedom with their designs.  The panels, which  are up to 12.0m in length, come in a dazzling variety of colors and can be easily cold curves at the work site so that the full potential of the façade transparency can be released.

Types of cladding systems

Cladding on a building provides a protective layer that guards the interior from leakages which can cause serious damage to the structure, as well as compromise the insulation by letting in moisture.  Cladding adds to a building’s energy efficiency while providing that protection, and at the same time, cladding is amazingly easy to maintain and doesn’t require constant cleaning.  Cladding can make the difference in the health and life of your building, and rainscreen cladding is one of the types of cladding systems that can do the job.

Rainscreen Cladding

Types of Cladding Systems: Ventilated Rainscreen System (VRS)
As you might expect, Danpal’s research and development team utilizes innovative techniques and natural means to create products that perform to peak efficiency.  Danpal’s VRS incorporates Danpalon panels to protect insulation from moisture.  Behind the panels is an air gap whichi provides natural ventilation so that the convective motion stays dry and efficient.

How the Ventilated Rainscreen System and Other Types of Cladding Perform
The panels of the cladding system are double notched to make sure that water cannot penetrate.  Made of connector-bound Microcell polycarbonate panels, this type of cladding system, which is three times lighter than traditional rainscreen cladding, is very easy to work with and to install.  The connections are made directly onto the support and there’s no need for support from additional framed structures.

The Final Word on the Ventilated Rainscreen System
In short, there’s no other type of cladding system that can compare to Danpal’s Ventilated Rainscreen Cladding. Because it’s light in weight, it’s easy to install, saving on cost and inconvenience; it’s completely waterproof so that moisture cannot penetrate; it’s available in panel lengths up to 12.0m standard, with longer lengths available on request; it’s offered in an array of designs and colors that other companies can’t match; and it’s environmentally friendly with no waste so that it’s not harmful to the planet.

U glass facade

Danpal innovation leads the way in the manufacturing of products that incorporate the esthetic, structural and environmental priorities of our contemporary society while continuing to be on the lookout for new technologies and methods that will keep the building industry on the cutting edge.  U glass facades are one of those dynamic processes which utilizes the clear appearance of glass to provide greater access to daylight while continuing to provide the famed weather protection that is so much a part of Danpal’s international reputation.

U Glass Facades Continue To Provide Protection From Weather

Because facades do not serve a structural role in the design of a building, it’s sometimes easy to forget that they still have an important purpose in the life of a building, particularly when it comes to preventing weather from causing harm to the structure. We’ve all noticed in recent years that weather seems to be taking on a more destructive character as we begin to recognize the various manifestations of climate change in our regions.

We seem to have more powerful snowstorms that can close highways, cause schools to be cancelled, and alter our routines. Rain that leads to violent storms and flooding cause many of us to be alarmed when we hear the weather reports. Hail can do physical damage to buildings and cars. High winds are capable of bringing down trees and tearing off roofs. Through all of this is the risk that weather, in the form of  moisture, will penetrate the interior of a building and compromise the insulation. If that happens, a building’s energy efficiency is in jeopardy because heating and cooling systems will respond to a loss of energy by working harder. When this  happens, the environment is harmed because of the wasted energy that has escaped from the building.  Your U glass façade will continue to protect your building from the harmful effects of weather.

Vaulted skylight

As Danpal says of its Danpavault System, “The sky is no limit.”  The Danpavault Barrel Vaulted Skylight System brings together the flexibility and customization that is a Danpal trademark with the Danpalon®  technology that makes it all work.  Danpal clients view the company with regard because Danpal commitment to excellence delivers a quality of product that makes an architect’s job easier.

Danpalon®  Technology For Vaulted Skylights
Danpalon® ‘s Microcell technology offers the highest resistance available to the damage caused by impact and hail.  The high concentration of cells in Microcell technology delivers the rigidity and improved mechanical properties for improved durability. The strength of the system is enhanced by the tightness between the vertical supports.  This level of stamina is what can prevent weather from harming the building.

Benefits of the Danpavault Barrel Vaulted Skylight System
Flexibility is known as one of the characteristics of Danpal products.  So is daylighting architecture. With the vaulted skylights, a building can install a skylight of unlimited length that easily integrates with other roofing types such as concrete and profiled metal.  The design transmits natural light, evenly diffused, that also offers thermal insulation and extended UV protection.  The system can be installed over a metal structure that covers a large range of spans and radii, or as a self-supporting skylight. With the addition of aluminum framing options—connectors, bars, spacers—it can be installed over large or small spans.

Vaulted Skylight Attractions
There are many obvious reasons, both in terms of performance and in appearance, why a vaulted skylight is an attractive option for building design. Compared to flat light openings, the Danpavault system allows an increased amount of light per area of roof light opening.  The skylight, which is self-supporting, is easy to install and is compatible with differing types of roofs. Moisture is always a concern and here, too, the vaulted skylight delivers, with 100% watertight protection from penetration.

Green Building Facades

As twenty-first century civilization comes to grips with the effects that climate change is hanging on all aspects of our daily lives, we must examine all aspects of our lifestyles to determine how we can do right by planet Earth.  Architecture has embraced the movement to “go green” with green building designs that employ environmentally sound practices and use materials which conform to stricter federal standards for ecological performance. Buildings, like people, have a carbon footprint that can do harm to the environment if we are not careful. Green building facades are just one of the ways that Danpal has undertaken so that we may continue to do our part to be true to our motto, Global Vision, Local Focus. Wherever the climate, there’s a Danpal green building façade that will improve your structure’s response to the vital issue of sustainable energy usage.

green buildings

Green Building Facades Use Translucent Systems To Promote Energy Efficiency
Translucent facades, because they reflect and absorb solar radiation, help to keep the temperature inside a building at optimal levels.  The superior effect of the insulation maintains a comfortable atmosphere within the structure. The high performing light diffusion keeps the balance of light even, thanks to the tightly spaced ribs which also provide an esthetic design feature for the building.

Green Building Facades Enhance Thermal Insulation

Thermal insulation is the process by which a building can absorb and transfer heat. Efficient energy usage reflects  a system that maintains a consistent temperature throughout the year so that heating and cooling processes do not have to overwork in the hot or cold seasons.  Our green building facades benefit from the unique cell structure of the translucent facades. The excellent “U” and “R” values confirm the efficiency of the thermal insulation.

Polycarbonate wall cladding

The building material market has been transformed by polycarbonate and this transformation has redefined wall cladding. That’s because polycarbonate wall cladding, with its Microcell technology, is three times lighter than traditional rainscreen cladding.

The beauty of polycarbonate wall cladding, quite simply, is that its strength doesn’t interfere with the esthetic appeal of the structure, something that can easily be seen in one of the many Danpal projects that has earned acclaim for its blend of strength and appearance. The stunning beauty of the ALBERCA UNIVERSIDAD POLITÉCNICA METROPOLITANA for example, perfectly displays the unique qualities of polycarbonate wall cladding. Daylighting architecture, a renowned feature of the Danpal reputation for excellence, incorporates natural light into the structural design of the building so that there’s a little bit of the outdoors within the walls. All over the world, buildings such as this confirm the Danpal mark of excellence in its products.

HOW POLYCARONATE WALL CLADDING  WORKS
All the beauty that’s visible is a shield for the insulation within. Keeping insulation dry and free from the dangers posed by moisture is wall cladding’s job. It does this thanks to the natural ventilation provided by an air gap. Behind the wall cladding, a convective motion prevents insulation from getting wet.  It remains impenetrable to moisture because of the system’s exclusive double nothing.

EASY-TO-INSTALL POLYCARBONATE WALL CLADDING
In addition to its unique blend of beauty and strange, polycarbonate wall cladding brings another plus to the building project, and that’s its ease of installation.
It’s easy  to understand why a product that’s three times lighter than traditional rainscreen cladding would be easier to work with, but the Danpal® Wall Cladding System is designed so that connections can be made directly, without the need for additional framed support.

Polycarbonate Double Gkazing

Unless residences and business opt for moving operations to tree houses, there doesn’t seem to be much chance that we’ll see the work environment switch to an outdoor setting for most of us. But with Danpal’s daylighting architecture,  natural light becomes as much a feature of the workspace and living space as ceilings and walls. Polycarbonate double glazing not only adds to the daylighting esthetics of a Danpal structure, but it also provides high resistance to hail and impact damage.

DANPALON vs TRADITIONAL GLAZING
DANPALON vs TRADITIONAL GLAZING

DANPALON®   POLYCARBONATE DOUBLE GLAZING
Danpal’s microcell technology is the key to the effectiveness of polycarbonate panels.  Made with innovative extrusion technology, our polycarbonate panels are engineered to provide ten times the cells that other polycarbonate panels offer.  The tight spacing between the ribs of the panels improves the quality of the light; the tightness between the vertical supports empowers our polycarbonate panels to offer the highest resistance to hail damage and impact. Another plus is that our polycarbonate panels come in a variety of widths and thicknesses.  The high concentration of cells delivers enhanced rigidity and mechanical properties.

THE ESTHETICS OF POLYCARBONATE DOUBLE GLAZING
Danpal products are known all over the world, not only for the quality of our materials, but also for their esthetic superiority. That means that a wide range of visual appeal is available to choose from, with panels that are opaque, translucent, or bicolor.

Take a look at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre in the United Kingdom.  You can see the nuanced manner in which polycarbonate double glazing transforms a physical building into a stunning structure that includes light in its composition.

We won’t be living or working in tree houses any time soon. But thanks to Danpal products like polycarbonate double glazing, we’re getting more daylight into our daytime lives!

Naturalite skylight systems

Skylights are the construction industry’s way of blending the outside world’s sights and sounds with the comforts of the inside world. You wouldn’t want to be stranded outside when it’s raining, but listening to the rain, or watching it, from the comfort of inside, is a satisfying experience.  That’s why Danpal’s naturalite skylight systems work so well that it’s almost like watching a performance of nature from within the building.  The comfort of your indoor world is only enhanced as you enjoy the scene before you.

Skylight Roofing

The Natural Light of the Naturalite Skylight Systems

Now that we know how much of an effect natural light has on our health, vitality and mood, we wonder why it took people so long to recognize the link between daylight and human response.  Employers who notice that their employees seem to respond better to natural light than to artificial light have found that installing skylights is a way to boost productivity. Residences with skylights tout the way that having natural light inside their  homes makes them feel better. In both instances, people definitely see better in natural light.

How Naturalite Skylight Systems Measure Up to Weather
Nature is a powerful force, with many different ways of displaying that power.  If rain, snow, wind and hail were somehow to have a contest to determine which was the most powerful, it might end up in a four-way tie. That’s because each manifestation of the elements has its own  not-so-secret weapon that can wreak havoc on businesses, homes, roads, schedules and people. Buildings need to constructed and designed so that they are equipped to handle whatever comes out of the sky.  Danpal is a company that, during its half century in the building industry, has seen a lot of weather. As climate change brings ever-more-devastating weather to the world, Danpal engineers continue to design innovative and durable products that protect buildings from the elements.

Insulated Polycarbonate Roof Panels

One of the most important parts of a building is insulation. It’s not enough to have good insulation.  Insulation can only perform its function if it’s protected from the moisture that rain and snow can leave behind.  Dry insulation plays a crucial role in the life of a building, but it’s also vital for the health and wellbeing of the building’s occupants. If insulation has been compromised by moisture, it becomes a welcome environment for the spread of mold, which can cause serious health problems for people living or working in the structure who suffer from respiratory conditions such as asthma or allergies.  That’s why insulation needs all the help it can get. Thanks to Danpal, insulated polycarbonate roof panels offer just the help a building needs!

Polycarbonate Sheets

HOW INSULATED POLYCARBONATE ROOF PANELS WORK
Insulation is a vital component in the efficient operation of a building’s heating and cooling systems, which should offer a steady temperature inside throughout the entire year and all four seasons of the calendar.  The added insulation of polycarbonate roofing, which has air between the layers, reduces the loss of heat. It keeps out the harmful UV rays from the sun, while at the same time allowing natural light to enter.

POLYCARBONATE ROOF PANELS AND WHERE THEY’RE USED
Polycarbonate roofing can be installed either as a single layer, which is customary in greenhouses, or in multiple layers, which is what is typically seen in a residence or business. Keeping the right temperature for a building is both an environmental as well as an economical matter. Lost energy that escapes costs you money because it increases what you’re paying to keep your building warm in the winter and cool in the summer. At the same time, that escaping energy is a burden to the environment as we all strive to maintain sustainable lifestyles. Insulated polycarbonate roof panels add an extra layer of protection for your wallet and the world in which we live.

Glass facade lighting

The sight of the Saint Thomas Church in Vaulx-en-Velin, France definitively demonstrates how effective glass façade lighting can be in transforming a building from being just a physical structure to taking on the inspiring intention of its purpose, merely by being there. That image is mirrored in the corporate identity of Danpal, whose motto, Global Vision, Local Focus, reflects a stirring commitment to the world that exists outside the buildings that our products bring to life.

Glass Façade Lighting And Sunlight

Sunlight has been doing the world a favor ever since. . . well, forever. Where would we be without sunlight?  Simply put, we wouldn’t be at all. Sunlight is vital for our survival, for our food, for our wellbeing. Danpal gives sunlight its due and takes it one step further, inviting sunlight to come inside and make itself at home.  The presence of sunlight as part of glass façade lighting can positively affect the use of energy in a building, thus having an influence on the energy usage. In order for sunlight to be efficiently used, façade materials are designed to capitalize on  the thermal advantages that come with the presence of natural light.

Glass Façade Lighting Indoors

Natural light is much easier to see with than artificial light and while no one is suggesting that we should get rid of all our lamps and overhead lights, we recognize that daylight inside adds so much to our living and working spaces. The obvious advantages of having more natural light as a part of our indoor lives is demonstrated by how much better we feel when we’re in the presence of natural light. You won’t find an uplifted mood by sitting next to your desk lamp, but let the light from outside be admitted into your work area and you find that your energy levels increase and your productivity rises.

Flat skylights for flat roofs

One of the most important decisions to be made when an architect is drawing up plans for a new building concerns the roof.  The roof, to a great extent, determines the style of the building. For many, a skylight is one way of giving the roofing system a unique appearance  that can enhance the entire building. Danpal’s skylight systems explore new possibilities for the ways in which natural light can be included in the interior spaces of a building.  Flat skylights for flat roofs offer a dazzling perspective on the heavens above; there’s the natural light during the daytime and at night, there’s the opportunity to gaze up at the stars and moon and enjoy a little astronomy with your slumber.

ROOFING SYSTEMS

Flat Skylights For Flat Roofs: A Popular Trend In Construction
Some people still believe that if you have a flat roof, you won’t be able to install a skylight, but we’re happy to say that this isn’t the case.  Many buildings have a flat roof, and Danpal technology makes it possible to install a flat skylight. The flat roof skylights are specifically designed for flat roofs, using the versatile and flexible building material polycarbonate.

Flat Skylights For Flat Roofs Provide Sturdy Weather Resistance

Danpal roofing is known for being a cut above the competition and that’s still the case when installing flat skylights for flat roofs.  Bringing in natural light for the daytime doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice weather resistance; in fact, that’s just the opposite of what you’ll get with a Danpal skylight.  Skylights are tough enough to resist the impact of hail, wind, snow and rain. Whether you’re enjoying the light during the daytime or the view at night, you can be confident that you’re snug and safe inside.

Facade glazing systems

Danpal’s façade glazing systems deliver a perfect balance of weather protection and light  for the structures upon which they are installed. When you choose Danpal, you get the complete package in façade systems:  Microcell technology; high impact resistance; complete air-and watertight protection from penetration; easy installation; UV protection; and well diffused light.  A Danpal façade delivers all of the performance components that give your building the weather shield it needs to prevent snow, rain, wind and hail from penetrating the structural defenses.  And it also delivers an architectural beauty and appeal that take it beyond the realm of construction and turn a building into art.

Facade Materials

Characteristics Of The Façade Glazing Systems
The Danpal dry-glazed systems are available in a variety of configurations that are suitable for different types of structures.  Although they are light in weight, they lack nothing in strength when it comes to offering superior weather protection, including high impact resistance.  Because of the systems’ flexibility, transparency and tonal qualities as compared to glass, the façade glazing systems perfectly balance light and thermal dynamics.

Esthetic Appeal Of The Façade Glazing Systems
Light is so much a part of the Danpal identity that the company’s pioneering in daylighting architecture has become one of its most popular selling points. Light adds beauty to a building, as well as the intangible quality that makes people feel better.  In addition, color is a Danpal signature and the façade glazing systems offer facades a chance to excel in creativity. That’s due to the variety of colors, finishes, and special effects that offer an opportunity to create fascinating visual contrasts. In addition to the visual charm of color and finishes, Danpal’s co-extended UV protection gives its façade systems a longer life span.

Energy efficient skylights

In today’s society, energy conservation is a priority. People are changing their lifestyles, their eating and shopping habits, even their modes of travel as they demonstrate a personal commitment to protecting the planet. Danpal, with its creed of Global Vision, Local Focus, exhibits the same commitment to the environment on a corporate level. Our products are designed and manufactured with an awareness of federal regulations and an adherence to sustainable practices. Fortunately, because of Danpal’s global awareness, we lead the way in ecological building practices. This is notably apparent in our energy efficient skylights.

Energy Efficient Skylights Offer New Possibilities In Design

As Danpal has pursued the concept of daylighting architecture, we’ve been pleased to discover how this concept also meshes with our commitment to holistic environmental practices. Daylight is an esthetic attraction to a building’s appearance, but it also plays a part in our energy consumption. More natural light during the day can reduce the amount of energy that you use.  Energy efficient skylights are designed so that buildings can make the best use of the local area’s thermal conditions, which vary according to geography and climate.

The Esthetics of Energy Efficient Skylights

There’s no need to choose between energy efficiency and appearance when deciding on your skylight system, because Danpal delivers both.   Skylights are so popular because they bring beauty to a building. Because skylights are part of the roofing system, and not an inset window panel, the attractive appearance is the result of the roof supports. Who doesn’t enjoy the view of the heavens, especially when it’s available from within?  You can be confident that your skylight is just as strong as it needs to be and able to withstand the rigors of weather.

In today’s building market, solar and thermal planning are as much a part of the architectural design as ceilings and floors. Make your choice an energy efficient skylight and enjoy the view!

Double skin curtain wall

The quest for improved energy efficiency has led to the development of systems which not only support good environmental stewardship but also provide better overall weather protection for buildings.  The double skin curtain wall system is one of the ways in which Danpal research and innovation have helped the company remain true to its Global Vision, Local Focus philosophy in its business practices.  With half a century of experience in the building industry, Danpal has become a leader in new and innovative product manufacturing that is as high in performance quality as it is holistic in its effects on the environment.

Curtain Wall System

What Is The Double Skin Curtain Wall?
The double skin curtain wall system consists of two skins, better known as facades, that are arranged so that air flows within the cavity in between.  The system promotes improved extraction of heat and provides energy efficiency by helping to maintain the consistent temperature which keeps the occupants of the structure comfortable during the heating and cooling cycles. Because of its adaptability to the different seasonal temperatures, the system benefits an improved insulation value, which can also be helpful in keeping utility costs lower.

How Danpal’s Double Skin Curtain Wall Benefits the Environment
We all know that in poorer countries, maintaining sustainable environmental practices can be a challenge. But did you know that in industrialized countries, buildings account for 40% of the energy usage?  Our buildings are modern and technologically advanced, but it’s our responsibility to make sure that they adhere to the federally regulated environmental standards which are intended to protect the planet. Danpal, which because of its commercial presence on five continents is acknowledged as an international leader in the building industry, is especially diligent in developing and maintaining systems like the double skin curtain wall product which please our clients and protect our environment.

Double glazed skylight

Many people would love to install skylight roofing in their residences or buildings, but they’re held back by the fear that skylights aren’t able to withstand the punishment of weather. Or they believe that skylights are more prone to leakage. But with a little research, those people will be get the roofing that they want. That’s because Danpal’s double-glazed skylights are as strong as they are beautiful, as resistant to weather damage as they are welcoming to natural light.  Danpal double glazed skylights bring the company’s reputation for excellence to your building.

Double Glazed Skylights Support Weather Protection

Double-glazed skylights from Danpal deliver 100% protection from leakages because they’re watertight and airtight to prevent wind, rain and snow from penetrating the barriers which deny them entrance.  No matter what kind of weather you experience in your region, you won’t have to worry about the outdoor elements showing up inside. Our systems are put through testing to make sure that they’re good enough to bear the Danpal brand.

The Difference that Double Glazed Skylights Make
Double glazing provides added flexibility to a product thanks to the Microcell technology that is used.  This flexibility is advantageous not only in building materials, but in many different engineering products developed and used all over the world. Our roofing systems can proudly claim high impact resistance as well as peerless thermal performance; that’s because each panel’s cell structure keeps heat inside, improving the energy efficiency. An added plus with the Danpalon roof panels is the excellent UV protection which  lets fewer UV rays through, extending the life of the system.

Double Glazed Skylight Beauty
It wouldn’t be a Danpal system if it didn’t incorporate esthetics into the ingredients for success.  Architects are able to customize their skylight roofing for specific designs thanks to all the color combinations that are offered in the Danpal palette.

Double glazed facade

Double glazed facades are designed so that air flows within the gap between the two facades. The Danpathern panels in the façade system allows either the interior or exterior one to be removed without reducing the effectiveness of the weather protection.  This is an obvious advantage when considering long-term maintenance. Danpal prides itself on the ease of installation of its products, something which is demonstrated fully with its double glazed facades.

Double Glazed Façade Design Saves Time and Money

The Danpatherm panels are pre-fabricated at the factory and arrive at the worksite ready to be installed.  The efficiency of this production process reduces the amount of time and number of workers who are needed for the installation of the system. Whenever time is saved, the economic advantage shows up soon after in the bank account.  Efficiency of production is a Danpal characteristic, one which is appreciated by architects and clients alike.

Double Glazed Facades Reinforce Protection From The Elements

Danpatherm is a Danpal product that possesses superior thermal properties, making it particularly adept at storing and transmitting heat. It also possesses the level of strength that is wind-resistant, keeping out those parts of nature that belong outside, not in.

Double Glazed Facades Bring In Natural Light

Another special attraction of the Danpal facades is the way that natural light is incorporated into the interior of the structure.  Controlite, which is made of translucent glazing materials, has internal louvres which adjust in order to maintain a no-glare interior space within the rooms. This provides natural light that results in better visibility, contributes to the comfort of the interior, and spares the occupants from the glare that would be present outside. No need for sunglasses inside, even if the sunlight is present!

Custom size skylights

Many clients are amazed to learn that the Danpal reputation for customized products extends to custom size skylights.  But doesn’t it make sense that a skylight should be designed so that it suits the particular style and vision of the architect who planned  rest of the structure? Buildings are created for a functional purpose, but they also have an esthetic role to play and Danpal customization helps that creative process. That’s why architects enjoy the opportunity to select from Danpal’s wide assortment of products, colors, and systems; they don’t have to compromise on the vision that they intend to create because Danpal helps them make it come alive.

The Versatility of Custom Size Skylights

Danpal’s products come in a wide range of lengths and sizes which means that they can be adapted to suit a particular architectural plan that needs the flexibility of customization.  Because the panels slot into place, the entire installation process is much smoother than what occurs with other, more rigid products from other companies. And because the Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System can either be placed over a metal structure with aluminum framing options, or be self-supporting, there’s no difficulty when installing over spans of different sizes.

Custom Size Skylights Deliver the Daylight You Want
It might be stretching a point to say that Danpal can customize sunlight, but it is true that, by offering custom size skylights, we do make it possible for you to have as much or as little natural light coming in as you prefer. Daylighting architecture, a Danpal specialty, is so popular because it allows the client to control the inclusion of light depending upon the time of day and the amount of shade that’s needed. In that sense, maybe Danpal does Mother Nature one better, because our custom size skylights can keep down the glare and diffuse the light more evenly.

Curved skylight

Architecture is, in many ways, a matter of personal preference. People like different styles for reasons that may seem entirely subjective. At the same time, there are some shared concepts that are almost universal and one of these is the esthetic appeal of curved lines. While straight lines can seem too rigid and abrupt, curved lines create a very different impression. This impression is especially appealing in the curved skylights that add so much to the visual attractiveness of a physical structure. The beauty of the Apollo Hospitals in Sri Lanka demonstrates the esthetic properties of the curved skylight.

The Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System
Architects have found that the Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System perfectly combines structural performance with esthetic appeal. The system offers a skylight of unlimited length that’s easily integrated with different roof types such as concrete and profiled metal.  The natural light that comes in is evenly diffused to provide thermal insulation and extended UV protection. The benefits of natural light are documented through scientific studies that show how indoor daylight is preferable to artificial light in terms of productivity and mood improvement. People feel better in natural light and with a curved skylight from Danpal, they can count on daylight inside.

Structural Properties of the Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight System
Durability is a key component of any Danpal product and this is true for the curved skylights that the company manufactures.  The system can be installed over areas of different sizes with the addition of aluminum framing options like bars, spacers, or connections. Or the system can be installed as a self-supporting skylight. The Microcell technology of the curved skylight panels promises the highest possible resistance against the impact of weather.

Curtain glass facade

Danpal building resources are intended to cover the broad spectrum of a building’s existence.  That spectrum reaches from the functional details which define its physical ability to withstand the powerful forces of nature that manifest themselves through weather to the esthetic influences that allow a structure to be more than just an assembly of floors, walls and a ceiling. It is this ability to engage in the “big picture” view of a building design that makes Danpal’s expertise so highly regarded in the industry.  Danpal curtain glass facades, in particular, exemplify this dual focus on function and appearance so that you’re comfortable and dry inside, while the outside of the building shows off the originality and flair of the architectural design.

Curtain Glass Facades Perform Well Against Weather

Keeping weather from intruding into the interior of a building serves a twofold purpose. Weather and moisture that manage to get into the interior spaces of a building can ruin the insulation, which needs to stay dry in order for heating and cooling systems to work efficiently.  Dry insulation also serves another purpose, and that is to keep energy from escaping. Escaping energy is wasted energy and that’s an environmental threat to the planet.

It’s Danpal’s Microcell technology that is the key to the effectiveness of the curtain glass facades.  There’s a double-click locking seam that delivers higher load resistance. Snap-on connections prevent weather from getting past the protective barrier. The superior quality of the system offers equally superior thermal insulation.

Natural Light With The Danpal Curtain Glass Facades

Danpal facades continue to attract new customers because who can resist the charm of natural light? Architects know that Danpal products offer the highest quality available in the industry. But the company’s ability to develop facades that are so successful at including natural light in the design of a structure is always a winning point. Natural light has many obvious benefits, but here’s one that can’t be configured into an architect’s blueprint: natural light makes people feel better. That fact may not show up in the plans, but when it’s time to choose a façade system, Danpal’s daylighting architecture wins every time.

Best Polycarbonate Roofing

The popularity of polycarbonate as a building material has made Danpal the building company with the best polycarbonate roofing in today’s market. What’s so remarkable about polycarbonate roofing?  Its strength, for one thing; its flexibility for another. The reason that Danpal is a leader in roofing manufacturing is because clients are so pleased with the process and the results that they see.  Architects enjoy the options that polycarbonate roofing gives them and everyone appreciates the visual beauty of the finished product. Danpal’s reputation for quality is well known in the industry and our roofing is one of the reasons why.

Roofing System

Best Polycarbonate Roofing Systems
Danpal® roofing systems can be installed above or below a structure depending on its engineering and design requirements. With a variety of snap-on, interlocking, dry-glazed connectors, the roofing is a marvel of flexibility.  Its flexibility doesn’t diminish its strength, however; the best polycarbonate roofing is made to stand up to weather, no matter how extreme.

Energy Efficiency and the Best Polycarbonate Roofing
Improved “U” and “R” values attest to the impressive energy efficiency of Danpal’s best polycarbonate roofing.  Its resistance to the elements prevents the pounding hail, driving rain, and heavy snow from penetrating a building’s defenses and causing damage to the insulation inside.  Compromised insulation lets heating and cooling escape to the outside, leading to wasted energy and higher utility costs.

The Esthetic Qualities of the Best Polycarbonate Roofing
It’s microcell technology that improves the quality of roofing by Danpal. There is tight spacing between the ribs, which displays better natural lighting and, as a result, a more attractive appearance. You can see what we mean when you look at the Zennith Sports Center, a South Korean golf course.  Here, the beauty is apparent, the strength is expected.

Best Polycarbonate Roofing Sheets

In an interview, architect Oscar Torrejón described his satisfaction with the Danpal products used in the refurbishment of the Dominican Republic’s Studio Legal Terrero & Mejía. He said that the Danpal products he worked with “exceeded all expectations.” That level of praise is familiar to the Danpal team because, after over half a century in the industry, our reputation for quality is celebrated across the globe.  It explains why we can offer the best polycarbonate roofing sheets, so that a building, right from the top, starts at the top!

polycarbonate sheets

THE BEST POLYCARBONATE ROOFING SHEETS MAKE THE BEST ROOFING SYSTEM
Polycarbonate is a building material that automatically enhances the composition of whatever architectural aspect for which it’s used.  Our polycarbonate roofing sheets are made with microcell technology, which is celebrated for being the most advanced system used in daylight applications. As a pioneer in daylighting architecture, Danpal recognized the advantages of polycarbonate from the beginning.  You want a roofing system that can withstand the range of weather conditions: Danpal polycarbonate roofing sheets can do that. You want a roofing system that delivers the ideal balance between light and thermal dynamics: Danpal polycarbonate roofing sheets can do that.

HOW THE BEST POLYCARBONATE ROOFING SHEETS ACHIEVE RESULTS
Weather is a tough adversary.  No matter where you live, there’s sure to be an element of weather that you find especially challenging. If it’s challenging for you, just think of what a building has to put up with from the outdoors!  But Danpal products are tougher, and our polycarbonate roofing sheets are designed with a double-tooth, grip-lock connection for high resistance to powerful winds, heavy snow, and hail. Flexibility is also a trait of our polycarbonate roofing sheets, which have snap-on, dry-glazed connectors.  In order to provide a long life for the roofing system, the Danpalon® panels have a co-extruded UV protection.

Architectural skylights

Danpal’s skylight roofing is an architect’s dream. It’s the result of a half century of expertise, a corporate identity that follows the logo Global Vision, Local Focus, and a presence on five continents.  The standards are high and the quality is world-renowned, and that’s why architectural skylights are so popular with the Danpal clientele.  Skylights are an exciting alternative to traditional roofing and they offer a holistic environment that improves work and living spaces. With the addition of natural light into the buildings where you live and work, occupants find a renewed sense of purpose and energy as we go about our daily routines.

Skylight Roofing

Architectural Skylights Optimize Natural Light
A reason why skylights are so popular as a roofing choice is because they incorporate daylight into the design of the structure.  The Danpavault Barrel Vault Skylight Roofing System is ideal if you’re looking for a way to access the maximum amount of light coming through the roof. That’s because the Danpavault System is so effective at diffusing light throughout your space.  Throughout the day, the natural light that is emitted via the skylight will create a magical spell that will make you think you’re outside, basking in the daylight, without having to deal with bugs, breezes that blow dirt in your eyes, or an unexpected storm.

Strength Is A Feature of Architectural Skylights
There’s no need to sacrifice the strength a roofing system needs to demonstrate in order to have the sunny interiors that you want.  Any structure has to contend with the day-to-day punishment of weather and Danpal’s architectural skylights perform as well in durability as traditional roofing.  Microcell technology keeps Danpal skylights strong and durable, easily able to withstand the snow, rain and wind. The watertight panels keep moisture from penetrating so there’s no worry about leakages. In addition to that strength, there’s the flexibility and ease of installation that makes Danpal products a pleasure to work with.

Advanced skylights

Maybe you feel that nature is something entirely beyond your control, something that happens to you and you are helpless. Danpal doesn’t have a solution for the rain that ruins your golf game or the hail that damages your car, but there is one way in which you can exercise control over one aspect of nature.  With Controlite®  you have an advanced skylight that allows you to decide how much natural light you wish to have inside your building.  Controlite® provides optimal comfort during changing daylight conditions, offers skylighting surfaces in larger areas, stands up to weather and the extremes of temperature, and is a sustainable energy saver that lowers your heating and cooling costs.

Advanced skylight systems

Remember those old movie scenes where someone comes crashing through a skylight as if it’s a flimsy substance incapable of bearing pressure? That works on screen, but in real life, advanced skylight systems are capable of bearing quite a lot of pressure. While no one would recommend getting on top of a building for the purpose of testing the strength of the skylight (that could be a pretty high climb!), Danpal assures you that its skylights undergo rigorous testing to make sure that they’re strong enough the handle the wind, snow, hail and rain that are a common feature of weather all over the world.   Our commitment to innovative research and development is part of the foundation of the Danpal reputation. Now, about our skylights . . .

How Danpal’s Advanced Skylight Systems Reflect the Tradition of Excellence
With more than 50 years in the building industry, Danpal has expanded its presence to five continents by manufacturing products that demonstrate quality and innovation.  A great new product like our advanced skylight system doesn’t just show up on the market; it takes research and testing and a spirit of discovery to unleash the potential of what we can accomplish.  Our Controlite® system explores the possibilities that accompany buildings filled with light, the ease of flexible installation, and energy efficiency all in one satisfying building package.

It’s not a fantasy tale, but it certainly is fantastic!

Sustainable cladding

When the world went on pause in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic, and people all over the globe altered their work and social schedules to prevent community spread of the virus, something remarkable happened. Satellite images of the planet showed the differences in pollution; fewer cars driving meant less emissions harming the planet.  In an otherwise grim period in human existence, the weeks when the world limited its movements proved how much the planet is at our mercy. Danpal did not need the evidence of the COVID19 stay-at-home measures to demonstrate the importance of protecting the planet. Sustainability is part of the Danpal slogan, Global Vision, Local Focus, and  it’s something that is a part of our business practice. Our products reflect this belief, and our sustainable cladding maintains the highest possible standards of environmental awareness.

Sustainable Cladding and Green Buildings
As a leader in the building industry, with over half a century of expertise, Danpal has been a leader in the movement to make building materials sustainable. We regard it as our responsibility to protect the planet. The world’s developed countries enjoy many advantages in terms of resources and technology. However, in order to implement those advantages, those countries are home to the buildings that consume 40% of the world’s energy.  We must be careful to do our part in keeping the environment safe from harm. Clearly, we need to make sustainability a priority in order to live in balance with nature while still providing the materials that people need in the construction industry. Danpal systems like our sustainable cladding prove that we’re an environmentally friendly company. Danpal systems are manufactured to size so that waste is minimized. Our Danpalon system is certified as a nonpollutant.  Easy transport and handling further demonstrate the Danpal commitment to the environment.

Sun shading facade

Have you noticed the bold new innovations taking place in architecture?  Green buildings are one of the ways in which architects are combining their creative talents with the need to build in a manner that protects, rather than harms, our planet.  There are tiny houses and tree houses that have captured the imagination of homeowners looking for something different. As architecture embraces these new designs, they still build with a careful eye to the elements.  Snow, rain, hail and wind are all potential threats that can seriously damage a building. And even sunlight, as much as human beings crave it, needs to be in balance. Sun-shaded facades are one of the ways that architecture has found to maintain that important balance between sunshine and shade.

facade system

Danpal’s Sun-Shaded Facades Control Indoor Lighting
Danpal’s façade systems are known all over the world for their ability to optimize the transmission of daylight at a level favored by the occupants of the building.  We are all different and we have different preferences. With Danpal’s translucent glazing panel and rotating louvres, the amount of daylight that enters a room or an area is controlled by you.  You may choose to have a space that’s flooded with sunlight, or you may choose a more nuanced level. It’s your preference that makes the decision.

Concordia St Johns Campus, Highgate: Sun-Shading Facades At Work

Australia is a country that knows a little bit about sunlight.  Buildings in regions where the sun possesses the kind of intensity that it has in Australia need to be able to control the brilliance of the light rather so that the occupants within aren’t constantly combatting glare.  That’s why Danpal’s sun-shading facades are particularly effective in places that are blessed with sunlight but in need of shade.

Rainscreen insulation

How’s your building feeling these days?  It’s not a question we ask, is it? When assessing the status of a structure, we tend to rely on obvious signs of damage or deterioration. After high winds, we’ll take a look for an indication that something blew off; when it rains, we look for leaks; we notice if hail has left its mark on a building’s exterior. But often, we fail to look closer, inside, to see if moisture has managed to penetrate a building’s defense and leave its mark on the insulation. If insulation is inefficient, the building’s energy usage is affected; the insulation is working harder to try to maintain a constant temperature while heating and cooling are escaping outside.  Rainscreen insulation for your building provides watertight protection against the threat of weather and moisture.

Rainscreen cladding

Rainscreen Insulation is a Function of Cladding
Your building’s exterior is affected by the quality of the materials that were selected for cladding. Poor quality materials may be porous and incapable of withstanding the powerful force of nature’s fierce storms and winds.  When rain falls, it has to go somewhere; Danpal cladding includes a distinct route for rain water to go so that it’s removed from the building’s exterior. Rainscreen insulation is a protective measure that fortifies the interior of a building by concentrating its strength on the exterior.

Rainscreen Insulation and Damage

What happens if the force of a storm is so intense that it does damage to the rainscreen sheets? Danpal innovation has provided for this contingency. Because the system is so easy to work with, the sheets of the cladding can be replaced if they need to be, without the entire system having to be removed.

Rainscreen Insulation Benefits

What about when it’s not raining? Even then, rainscreen insulation is at work keeping your building running efficiently.  It provides a high level of thermal insulation that maintains cost and energy efficiency. It’s economical in cost and also in space, so that the building design does not to include extra floor space to accommodate its presence. Rainscreen insulation protection is what your building needs.

Outdoor cladding panels

Outdoor cladding, which forms a layer of materials designed to protect a building from the effects of weather, is a key component of contemporary architecture.  If a building’s exterior lacks the protection that it must have in order to withstand the rain, snow, wind and hail that come with the forecast, the occupants of the building will eventually feel the effects inside. When choosing outdoor cladding, you will need to consider local building ordinances, the appearance of buildings in your area, and your budget, as cost can vary widely depending upon the details of the architectural plans.

Rainscreen Cladding

What Outdoor Cladding Panels Do For A Building

By creating thermal gaps to minimize the conduction of heat, outdoor cladding panels help to regulate the inside temperature of a building.  Maintaining a strong external shield that can rebuff the harsh effects of weather is important for keeping occupants inside comfortable in an environment where the temperature remains constant throughout the year: cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

How Outdoor Cladding Panels Make the Difference
The Sachon Ast factory in South Korea is a building which was constructed so that it would be able to withstand the distinct seasons of the country, with summers that are hot and humid and winters that are long, dry and cold.  Approximately two-thirds of the rainfall comes between June and September. In order to meet the challenge of the weather, a building such as the Sachon Ast factory has to have outdoor cladding panels that will not fail.

Weather and Outdoor Cladding Panels

We’re all well aware that weather is  a force to be reckoned with. The morning weather forecast affects what we will wear, our work and leisure plans, as well as our mood.  A dreary rainy day can make us feel melancholy and lethargic, while a sunny day spurs us into energy. A building does not respond to the abstract implications of weather the way that we do, but nonetheless, it is affected by the forecast.  Outdoor cladding panels are a significant way to keep that forecast from causing trouble for your building.

Metal rainscreen cladding

Danpal cladding is available in a variety of textures, colors and finishes.  Regardless of the choice that you make, you’ll find that the cladding is durable enough to withstand the rough weather that is part of the seasonal changes that we know to expect as we go through the year. Metal cladding might be made of galvanized steel or aluminum.  Other forms of cladding include brick, wood, plastic and imitation stone. But don’t worry; whatever you choose, you’ll be satisfied in knowing that Danpal quality is part of every product that bears our name.

Wall Cladding

Metal Rainscreen Cladding Tested for Efficiency

Danpal has a research and development team at work to make sure that our products meet our demanding standards.  Metal cladding, like all the other kinds of cladding, is tested for its porosity and permeability to make sure that the quality is superior.

Advantages of Metal Rainscreen Cladding
Metal rainscreen cladding gives a building a shiny look on its exterior.  It doesn’t absorb moisture, so it’s very resistant to fungi and algae, as well as fire. Metal rainscreen cladding’s light weight makes it easy to install and work with.  It also requires minimal maintenance.

Metal Rainscreen Cladding Protects Insulation

Along with all of the advantages of metal rainscreen cladding, its ability to prevent moisture from invading a building and causing structural deterioration is paramount.  Once moisture has penetrated the interior of a building, a number of problems loom. If a leak is not detected, the building becomes weakened and could even, in the worst case scenario, collapse. This is obviously a major concern but before that happens, there are other things to consider. Damp insulation that is not detected can lead to higher utility bills because heating and cooling are escaping. You’ll pay the cost and so does the environment, because energy is being wasted.

External facade cladding

External façade cladding is a feature of the CONTROLITE® daylighting system that employs the strength of polycarbonate and the appeal of natural light to create an optimum architectural design. Take a look at the Tonsley Mab structure in Australia to judge for yourself what a difference the splendid array of light makes in its appearance. Thanks to Danpal, natural light, once the exclusive property of Mother Nature, is now readily available, and with it come the benefits of an energy efficient, esthetically pleasing daylighting system that keeps weather and moisture from causing problems inside.

External Façade Cladding Keeps Moisture From Penetrating
Weather is a tough opponent for a building. No matter where you live, you’re at the mercy of the elements.  Heavy rains batter a building’s defenses; high winds and hail can damage the exterior of a structure, and winter, with its ice and snow, brings with it the threat of moisture that can easily invade the interior. But with Danpal’s external façade cladding, a building has built-in protection from the harsh punishment of weather.

Bring in the Daylight and Energy Efficiency Follows
Daylighting architecture doesn’t just make a living and working space that’s better for the occupants of the building. It’s also an environmental asset in terms of energy usage.  CONTROLITE® allows you to have control over the amount of daylight that comes inside and this feature lets you adjust according to the seasons. In the winter, when the mood-lifting light from daytime is so welcome, you can bring in the brightness.  In the summer, you can control the levels of sunlight that enter. In all instances, you’re also affecting the amount of heating and cooling that you need, which can optimize your energy usage and cut your expenses. Saving money while using your energy responsibly is another  bonus of Danpal’s superior quality external façade cladding.

Architecture Icon in the Dominican Republic

Interview with Architect Oscar Torrejón from Luis vidal + arquitectos

1. What was the original concept?

The concept and purpose of the project, has always been to generate an architectural icon, with its own identity that visually transmits the new image of Studio Legal Terrero & Mejía. We relied on the concepts of future, innovation, and quality, to achieve a greater presence at street level.

2. How did you approach the project?

The refurbishment was carried out on an existing single-storey building, which had a very basic image, and without any particular identity. Taking advantage of the characteristics of the materials, we created an interior space, which offered a greater feeling of size and lightness, via reflections and choices of materials. Inside, we eliminated any elements that distorted our global objective, unifying the materials used and introducing a small extension, used by both the reception and waiting rooms.

3. How was the vision eventually realized?

Our objective was to create a flexible workspace area, surrounded by a unique facade, as well as, a waiting room that departed from the initial design geometry. These elements, when viewed in concert, pays homage to the over-all design theme. The result aims to reflect the evolution and growth of Studio Legal Terrero & Mejía, and their constant effort, to advance their offering of – best professional services. We also wanted the new offices to acquire an identity, which would honor the memory of the past, and in-turn become a point of reference at both national and regional levels.

4. How did the geography of the area affect the design?

The environment, is an orthogonal plot of irregular buildings, in terms of both scale and morphology. This plot provided us with a good opportunity, to create a risky but unique proposal, for the city of Santo Domingo.

5. How did the geography of the area effect construction, were there any challenges and were there any unforeseen benefits, etc.?

The plot presented, basic urbanization of concrete floors and buildings, and had no apparent design value. Based on this, we worked on the transformation of these elements through simple, but very effective design operations.

6. How did Danpalon (another system) contribute to the aesthetic creation of the vision?

The characteristics of the material and its technical qualities, were perfect for us, to create a new image for Studio Legal Terrero & Mejía. The ability to construct the envelope, whilst simultaneously carrying out other works, is invaluable and further reinforced our material choice. An almost endless variety of colors and textures, allowed us to generate a balanced array for the volume. In addition, the material was utilized, not only on the building’s exterior but in the interior as well. This brought much-needed coherence to the discourse of the various routes and offered a fresh, updated image of the spaces.

7. How did Danpatherm Systems help create the vision/build technically?

The chosen system allowed us to bet on a dry construction system, with prefabricated elements, which offered the advantage of rapid execution.

8. What surprised you about the building at the end?

Once the set was designed, we knew what we would find in the end. What really happened, was that we found that the decisions we made, had been right all along.
One thing that was especially gratifying, was to discover that the reflections of the sky on the material, were very defined. This effect, allowed the building to capture the clouds in the Dominican sky, offering back to us, light and evocative image.

9. What if anything, surprised you about the Danpal systems?

The most surprising thing was to discover in situ, the aesthetic qualities of the material. Its finishes and nuances offer us, a wide range of possibilities for its use, to intensify the design-load on buildings.

10. Has the material worked the way you expected in your original expectations?

In general, the material has exceeded all expectations.

Reafirmando Lazos, Una Entrevista Con Edgar Solano Gerente General Construcciones Planificadas S.A.

Centro Comercial El Eden - Arquitecto Santiago Fonseca -

Danpatherm – The Bearer of Light

As architecture moves forward, buildings face the ever-evolving challenge of, how to stand-out among the crowd. As a supplier, Danpal has a potential answer, and we refer to it as Danpatherm. This cassette-based concept gives us the opportunity to use our Danpatherm K7 and Danpatherm K12 based façade solutions, as carriers for advanced LED lighting systems. This trick of lighting is unique in our market, and is what allows the Danpatherm Façade System to ‘stand-out from the crowd’.

Danpatherm Let’s take a step back for a moment, so we can understand what sets the K7 and K12 façade solution, apart from other translucent offerings. The Danpatherm design concept relies on the implementation of fully finished off pre-fabricated cassettes, which are flanked by Danpalon panels covering each face. These double-glazed units are sealed-off against external elements and arrive on-site, sized and ready for installation. Having the finished product arrive on-site, drastically reduces both the man-power and man-hours need for a successful installation.

So we have established that time on site can be reduced, and that the cassettes arrive fully completed, negating the need for additional engineering on site. The next attribute to consider, which is key to our Danpatherm system, is that in our case, double-glazing means that you can remove either the exterior or interior face of the cassette, without compromising the weather line. When considering long-term maintenance issues, this ability will become both ever more important and impressive. Can you imagine the cost implications of needing to have an entire façade removed, and in doing so, compromise the building’s occupants?

Danpatherm

The next more obvious point to cover, is that by using two Danpalon microcell panels, together in a single cassette – we can more than double the U-Value! More than double the u-value, just how is this possible, you might ask? Well, by separating the 2 Danpalon panels with an air-gap, we have essentially trapped a layer of air, as additional insulation. Still not enough, how about using the cassette as a carrier for glass fibre insulation material, and achieving a u-value of 0.52 W/m2 K! A point to remember is that even by adding in the insulation material, we are still able to achieve measurable levels of light transmission.

Now, if it wasn’t enough that a single façade system type, could offer all these attributes, with some of them being completely unique – K7 and K12 can also bring you LED light! To achieve this highly technical feat of engineering, Danpal partnered with LED lighting experts, who together developed a bespoke lighting solution for the Danpatherm cassette module. The solution is comprised of separate IP67 outdoor certified LED units, each with the capability to produce a full spectrum of both colored and white light.

What does this mean for an architect, and what does this mean for their next building project? It means that the architect now has the power to uniquely transform the very face of the building, into a vivid display of light! A display of light that reflects the architect’s intention and that speaks the design language of the building. A perfect example of this technology in use can be seen in use, in the Antel Arena in Uruguay. This multi-purpose indoor sports arena, can cater for up to 15 000 people and lights up the night time sky, with a light display visible from miles around.

Perhaps it is time that we re-think our view on Danpatherm, and in the process, rediscover the magic of LED light displays. To look upon our projects with an eye for, what might be and what can be done, by approaching the design with a ‘child-like’ openness to the ‘impossible’. At Danpal, we have a habit of turning the impossible into reality, by allowing our clients the magic, to design with light. We call this… Light Architecture!

A Word from the GM Boaz Rubel

2019 A YEAR OF CHALLENGE

Looking back over the year we have just shared, I am proud to be in the position I am, and to tell you that DANPAL has successfully risen to meet the year’s challenges head-on. Running a global world-class operation is no easy task, and so my focus is continually split between the operations, logistics, production, sales and the marketing of our DANPAL solutions.

With the right team at my side, together, we have faced and overcome issues such as currency instability, slow economies and political unrest – prevalent in some of our global markets. DANPAL is a private company and so by its very nature, we are often exposed to these poor market conditions. The key to our continued strong growth has always been, to focus on the fundamentals of what makes our company so great… by this, I am referring to our employees.

It is by having the right people in the right places, that DANPAL has been able to successfully evolve from being a panel-based manufacturing company, into the global leader in daylight solutions for the building envelope. You have all heard this term before, but it bears repeating – ‘Light Architecture’!

We have invested heavily in developing exciting new products, such as our RK7 Roofing System, the DP650 and exotic Danpalon Kinetic Panels. These are but a part of the reason, why we are today the world market leaders in our field. These new products launched in 2019 are not by chance, but are rather the result of intense research and development, carried out by our in-house engineers. Our R&D team, with their years of expertise, keep us ahead of the game and leaders in the industry.

Despite the tough market conditions, the year has seen us establish new subsidiaries, such as DANPAL India. Whilst on the other side of the globe in Colombia, we took the decision to partner with our distributors, and buy controlling shares in their business. So we look forward to the growth opportunities that both DANPAL Andina, and DANPAL India, will bring us in 2020.

Some of you might remember the conferences we hosted in both Thailand, for our Asia-Pacific partners and the Dominican Republic, attended by our Latin American partners. These conferences have provided us with the platforms needed, to engage directly with our global DANPAL family. During the days spent together, our team of DANPAL experts have offered up their expertise to further educate our distributors and installers.

2019 has also seen us achieve many international performance certifications, for our various systems. This continuous drive to meet new standards has been necessary for keeping us positioned as market leaders, ahead of the competition. An example of this has been our GREEN certification, bestowed on us by both the relevant Israeli and Australian authorities. We won’t stop there, as, in 2020, mush of our R&D is focused on Next-Generation Green Solutions.

2020 Our Future Together

So what can we expect from DANPAL in 2020? I can tell you, that my focus is to drive our key programmes to deliver both expert marketing and unsurpassed technical support. DANPAL understands how important it is for us to engage professionally with the market, and that our subsidiaries along with our distributors are the face of the company.

With this in mind, we have invested heavily in the development of cutting edge digital marketing tools, as well as, employing the right support staff to help implement our global strategies. One of our more exciting projects in development will see 2020 as the year we officially launch our very own BIM library. As you might know, BIM is becoming ever more relevant in the architectural market and our responsibility is to lead the industry in this endeavour. At our core, we develop and supply architectural products, and so I am happy to tell you, that our range of bespoke solutions will continue to reflect this.

We have other products in our R&D pipeline, which we will continue to perfect throughout the year… Without giving the game away, I can say that these systems in development, are geared toward the global GREEN BUILDING trend. Our next-generation DANPAL solutions will go a long way to futureproofing your offerings. We believe in developing for the long-term, whilst supporting our partners in their day-to-day endeavours.

On a final note, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and faith in DANPAL. It is great pride, that I look upon our various partnerships and with my own eyes, witness the continued growth of our DANPAL family. We also want to wish you all, a blessed festive season and we look forward to engaging with you again in 2020. Our team of managers, headed by our VP of Sales & Marketing, will continue to support you, by driving our initiatives forward in the New Year.

2019 Awards

The 9th edition of the EPSE Awards Competition was also announced on the 21st of October 2019 at the K Fair in Düsseldorf. After a warm welcome, the EPSE President introduced EPSE formally to all attendees and highlighted the main goals of the association: innovation, development, and quality. Before long, the evening reached its climax, when DANPAL was announced as winners in the category of INNOVATION. The award was proudly received, and seen as recognition for our efforts in bringing our Danpalon KINETIC panel to life!

It is DANPAL’s leadership in innovation that shone through, as taking top honors and winning the category for innovation, was no small feat. Our KINETIC panel is a first of its kind, with our color-shift technology, opening the doors for truly unique design possibilities. While the physical performance of our panels is never in question, the focus to develop a panel with unique aesthetic appeal would always be a challenge. Fortunately, DANPAL has a very active internal R&D team of engineers who were up to the task!

A project such as this spends sometimes years in development, behind the scenes, constantly being worked upon. For good reason, these projects are kept secret and receive no media attention, until our new product is ready for launch. Such was the case with Danpalon KINETIC, a panel type that allows you, to have the best of both worlds. We are excited to see the limits of our new panel, as architects develop conceptual designs, with KINETIC in mind.

The Future..?

No doubt, we will be entering the next round of awards scheduled for 2022, as we currently have other innovations in development with R&D. These next-generation products will again push the boundaries of what is thought possible. Our upcoming offerings will provide you the possibility to future-proof your business and will secure our DANPAL brand as global market leaders, in both design and innovation. Congratulations to our team at DANPAL for another remarkable achievement!

Roofing Systems Keep Weather Out And Let Daylight In

Roofing System: Often going unnoticed, the roof of a building holds the fate of the structure in its . . . well, hands, if a roof had hands. As is the case with so many things, building health begins at the top. A roof is the first target for the weather, the initial spot where a downpour of rain is detected. Heavy snowfall has to build custodial staff concerned about the weight of the snow and the potential damage it can do if it stays. Hail strikes like a volley of ice missiles, landing on the roof and staying there until they melt. Sunshine and heat can be intense. That’s why roofing systems are such an important part of architectural design and why Danpal roofing systems offer so much reassurance. Research and development have led to the creation of innovative technology that makes our roofing systems superior in performance when it comes to withstanding weather.

HOW DANPAL ROOFING SYSTEMS PROTECT BUILDINGS FROM WEATHER

A building isn’t the Batmobile; it can’t immediately produce new gadgets that protect it each time a different weather system strikes. Danpal has developed roofing technology that maintains a calendar year of defense. We have a double-tooth, grip-lock connection to provide 24/7 weather protection from the elements. If you look outside and see snow falling, or you hear the wind howling, there’s no need to worry because a Danpal roofing system is already on the job. Sunshine? It’s powerful, you know, and has the potential to damage a roof too. So we offer co-extruded UV protection. The result of all this protection is our maximum thermal performance keeping insulation dry and temperatures comfortable.

Roofing SystemsROOFING SYSTEMS AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Keeping insulation dry and free from dampness is one of the key roles played by the different Danpal products and it’s no different for a roofing system. As long as the insulation is dry, energy usage is consistent. But once moisture invades and the insulation gets wet, the heating and cooling systems struggle to maintain a consistent temperature. The result is wasted energy; the cost is passed on to the consumer, who is paying for energy that isn’t being used. But it’s also borne by the environment because we all know that our fragile planet must be protected from energy waste.

ROOFING SYSTEMS SHOW OFF THEIR LOOKS

A good, well-developed roofing system never forgets that its primary purpose is to protect the building from weather issues. But Danpal likes roofing systems to be attractive as well as functional. One of the ways in which our roofing systems are transforming the industry is through the use of daylighting architecture. Natural light enhances the illumination inside a building, but it must be admitted in just the right amount: not too much, not too little. With the tight spacing between the roofing system ribs, natural light enters at exactly the perfect balance for the occupants. The results are holistic. People who have the benefit of natural light in their working and living spaces find that they’re more productive, more energetic, and in a better frame of mind. If you’re looking for a roof that will give you an unexpected mood boost, try a Danpal roofing system.

Rainscreen Cladding Keeps Insulation Free From Moisture

Rainscreen Cladding: It takes a global company with a business presence on five continents to truly understand the nature of Mother Nature. By paying close attention to weather patterns, Danpal can dedicate its research and development designers and engineers to creating the most innovative products available. Mother Nature, as you’ve probably noticed, isn’t getting gentler with age. Her snowstorms are so powerful that we know them by name. Hurricanes are increasingly devastating as they bring catastrophic wind and rain to the land. Droughts in some parts of the world lead to wildfires that are impossible to control. The planet is growing increasingly hot and those temperatures are having an effect on all the weather that we experience.

All these factors which leap from the evening weather report to affect our lives are more than just news headlines. They are shaping the future of the planet and with such high stakes, they also affect the way that the building industry manufactures its products.

With such dire news about the weather, it’s important to realize that there’s a bright spot in the building industry. Danpal, a leader in the building market, has built a sound foundation as a pioneer in the development of high-quality, high-performance products that don’t surrender to weather. Danpal rainscreen cladding is designed to keep the inside of a building free from the invasion of moisture from the weather outside. Because our rainscreen cladding mounts a strong defense against weather, insulation stays dry and your building stays healthy.

Rainscreen CladdingKEEPING YOUR INSULATION DRY SO THAT MOLD DOESN’T GROW

We don’t always think of the buildings where we live and work as being models of health, but structures also need to maintain their wellbeing. If a building is unhealthy, it affects the occupants inside. Damp insulation leads to the growth of mold which can have a dramatic effect on health, especially for people with allergies or asthma or other respiratory conditions. Because rainscreen cladding is designed to prevent weather from penetrating the exterior of a building, it plays a vital role in safeguarding insulation inside.

THE VENTILATED RAINSCREEN SYSTEM (VRS)

Danpal has developed the state-of-the-art Ventilated Rainscreen System or VRS, which is specifically designed to lock out weather and moisture. VRS has double-notched panels that enhance the ability to resist penetration by weather and block rain and snow, and the moisture they leave behind, from causing damage to insulation. That defense is the result of the VRS air gap, with natural ventilation that keeps the system working efficiently.

RAINSCREEN CLADDING’S EASY MAINTENANCE

Danpal designs products that are easy to maintain. Rainscreen cladding doesn’t even need much in the way of periodic service or maintenance. And it’s as easy to install as it is to maintain; that’s because the connections can be made directly onto the support without the need for additional structural support.

Don’t let weather gain the upper hand with your building. Choose Danpal’s rainscreen cladding and keep your insulation free from moisture.

Plastic Roofing Protects Better, Feels Better, Looks Better

The trend in the building industry is for materials to be more environmentally safe, more energy-efficient, and easier to work with while sacrificing nothing in durability. At Danpal, where we’ve had half a century of adapting our innovative research to consumer trends, we know how important it is to see the big picture. And there’s no better perspective from which to see the big picture than by viewing it from the roof! Plastic roofing, to be more specific! It’s a Danpal product that combines energy efficiency, durability, and appearance. If you’re searching for a roofing system that combines the most desired attributes for today’s discerning consumer but sacrifices nothing in old-fashioned quality, consider Danpal plastic roofing.

PLASTIC ROOFING DURABILITY

Weather will always be matched up against building materials in a test to see how well the manufactured products can withstand the weather. As our weather continues to become more challenging, Danpal products have continued to maintain the highest quality of performance. Danpal roofing offers UV protection in order for the roof to maintain its condition for the longest time. Our roofing is designed and built to maintain impermeable air and water tightness so that rain and snow and wind won’t penetrate the roof’s defenses.

Plastic RoofingENERGY EFFICIENCY, THE ENVIRONMENT, AND PLASTIC ROOFING

Danpal lives by its motto, Global Vision, Local Focus, and this slogan is how we do business. We’re an international company with a business presence on five continents, so it’s apparent why we take our motto seriously because the entire world is our customer. Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is a top priority at Danpal, which is why we’re so attentive to the wellbeing of our clients and the sustainability of the planet. Our roofing products reflect our dedication to the holistic practices that we believe in, and because of that, our clientele can have faith in us.

PLASTIC ROOFING HAS EFFICIENT INSTALLATION

Our plastic roofing can be installed above or below buildings, which makes installation much easier to perform. Plastic roofing employs snap-on, interlocking dry-glazed components made of your choice of polycarbonate or aluminum to provide further ease in the installation process. Both aluminum and polycarbonate are highly regarded for their strength; they’re also prized because they’re not heavy and cumbersome to work with. Lightweight and easy to transport and work with, plastic roofing is a favorite all around!

LIGHTER AND BRIGHTER WITH PLASTIC ROOFING

Another advantage of plastic roofing is its contemporary appearance in providing a look that’s thoroughly modern for today’s design while incorporating the timeless appeal of daylight architecture into the model. Natural light is a form of illumination, which provides better visual power, but it is not just a matter of sight. Bringing daylight into the interior of a structure has a remarkable effect upon the occupants of a building. Workers find that they are more productive and in a better mood because sunlight contains Vitamin D, a necessary nutrient that’s vital to our overall health and wellbeing. Can you really feel better because of your roofing choice? With more natural light in your daily life, you’ll see an improvement!

Originality And Performance Are At Work With Façade Materials

Façade Materials: We live in a world where multitasking is the way we get things done. We’re participating in conference calls on the way to work; we stop at the gym on our way to work; we answer telephones and email messages simultaneously. Sometimes, we’re even good at juggling the tasks.

So it’s no surprise that elements in building construction do the same thing, especially façade materials. The materials of a structure can dazzle the eye with color, with texture, with a shimmering finish that makes the building look as if it belongs on a canvas. Façade materials also provide protection from the elements, so that weather, which can inflict fierce punishment on a building’s exterior, doesn’t invade the interior and cause damage to the insulation. Protecting insulation, and making a building look beautiful while doing it, are all part of the multitasking that goes on with façade materials.

WEATHER DOESN’T STOP, BUT DANPAL FAÇADE STOP WEATHER

Weather seems intent on destruction these days. We’ve watched as the weather patterns have turned ominous, giving us the hottest temperatures on record. We’ve had wildfires and hurricanes that have caused horrific destruction. Landslides are common. Snowstorms are named so that we can identify them by the problems they cause as they force roads to close, leave homes without power, and make terms like “polar vortex” part of everyday winter language. materials of Facades can’t ease the fury of weather. But they can keep insulation protected from moisture left behind by snow and rain. A building’s wellbeing is tied to thermal insulation. How to keep insulation from getting damp is the role that the materials play in that crucial process. Danpal façade materials have a double-click locking seam to support high security so that weather is less overwhelming for a building. Panels made of microcell technology also contribute to the ability of façade materials to resist weather. Thanks to the co-extended UV protection, Danpal materials promote a longer life span for a building so that it continues to fulfill its purpose throughout the seasons.

Facade Materials DANPAL FAÇADE MATERIALS DELIVER LIGHT AND THERMAL DYNAMICS

Danpal’s façade materials are made of materials that can boast of superior flexibility, transparency and tonal qualities when compared to glass. That’s because our single-glazed facades are translucent, dry-glazed systems specifically designed for a vitality of appearance that is anything but dull! Danpal colors, textures, and finishes turn a structure into a work of art that unleashes an architect’s vision and creativity.

EXPECT ORIGINALITY

Danpal knows that there are countless ways to make a building stand out from the other structures around it, and why shouldn’t a building create its own unique impression in a community, whether it’s a commercial or a residential sector? Imagine the effect that’s created when light and dark colors are contrasted: the building naturally inspires an unforgettable image in the viewer. The actual dimensions of a building can also seem to be reconfigured if varying shades of a particular color are used to create a layering effect that conjures an impression of depth. Color, finishes, and textures open the door to so many possibilities with façade materials, which deliver construction multitasking at its most impressive!

A Danpal Curtain Wall System Fights Against Mold And Moisture

The different components that go into an architectural design are as much evidence of a battle strategy as they are a blueprint for a structure. That’s because a building is only as good as the materials that are used to make it, and those materials need to be strong if the building is going to be able to hold its own in the ongoing war against the elements. The sky is an enormous battlefield from which come the furious winds of bad weather, the pounding rainstorms, ferocious snowfalls, damaging hail, and not to be ignored, the relentless heat. Seen in that light, it’s obvious that a building, and the architects and designers and engineers who provide the plans and the products for the structure, needs to have a force shield if their construction hopes to last.

Fortunately, Danpal, a leader in the building industry, has dedicated significant research and development in the making of its products. The Danpal curtain wall system is designed to protect the interior of a building by making the outside impenetrable to weather, and keeping the insulation inside dry and moisture-free.

Curtain Wall SystemTHE CURTAIN WALL SYSTEM IS THE INSULATION DEFENDER

Weather does everything in its considerable power to pummel a building’s defenses as it tries to penetrate the exterior. If rain and snow get inside a building, insulation is threatened. As long as insulation remains dry, the building’s heating and cooling systems are not working overtime to try to keep the temperature constant and comfortable. But once dampness penetrates the insulation, an entirely different scenario develops, one in which mold turns into a potential problem.

Mold loves dampness and makes a home in wet insulation. That’s when energy escapes and is wasted because it’s no longer safely confined within the interior of a building. As the mold progresses, it affects the wellbeing of the building’s occupants, jeopardizing their health and threatening those who already suffer from respiratory conditions. People who have asthma and suffer from allergies are even more vulnerable to the spread of mold.

CURTAIN WALL SYSTEMS ARE EASY TO INSTALL

Dry insulation tells the story of why a curtain wall system from Danpal benefits a building’s internal function. Ease of installation continues the tale by proving that the curtain wall system, which is flexible and light in weight, saves time and money for clients from the manufacturing to the transporting to the installing. The curtain wall system is light, but not flimsy; it’s flexible but not shoddy. In fact, Danpal products overall are highly regarded as much for the quality of their performance as for being a pleasure to work with.

We can’t change the weather, but we’re doing all that we can to design products that are strong enough to stand against the elements. A curtain wall system is a proof that when a company dedicates its resources and its resolve into developing materials that are designed to last, they can make the difference in a building’s life span.

10 Years of Achievements Celebrated at Danpal Mexico

October 2019 saw the 10th anniversary of our subsidiary, Danpal Mexico, led by their General Manager Mr. Hector Avila, who was also in attendance. This momentous occasion was held on the 51st floor of La Torre Mayor, one of the most iconic buildings in Mexico City, and was well-supported by all the top Mexican architectural firms. The firms represented, were in attendance by invitation only and included; Sordo Madaleno Architects, VFO Architects, GROW Architects, Arditti + RDT Architects, Moyao Architects, DIN Interior Design, Eclipse architects and Oxigeno architects, among others.

The evening rolled forward, as our team headed by Mr. Avila, highlighted their efforts and direction. A number of initiatives implemented by Mr. Avila and his team, have shown great success in both promoting the Danpal brand, and in developing their local market. In truth, they have been able to successfully create a much larger market for our Danpalon based systems, partly by focusing on specifications unique to Danpal.

The ability to create unique specification, is an immensely powerful tool that our competitors cannot equally match, and which directly speaks to the needs of today’s architects. Today we speak the language of Green Building, sustainability, carbon emissions, and energy efficiency, because this is the language that today’s construction professionals understand. To do this effectively, we must understand the market, understand the possibilities of our systems and direct our efforts towards creating these new specifications for the market.

Also making an appearance, all the way from Colombia was the General Manager of Danpal Andina, Luis Fernando Rodriguez and his special guest the very recognized Colombian Architect Mr. Juan Felipe Cadavid. In addition, we welcomed the special participation of architect Mr. Han Young Keun. President of the Korean Institute of Architects and director of our official subsidiary, Danpal Korea.

Those in attendance at our closed event, were treated to a special talk, put together and delivered by Mr. Han. The talk focused on our concept of Light Architecture, its benefits and how this integrates with modern-day thinking on daylight, as an element in architecture. The evening then became a great opportunity to introduce the local architects, to these principals of daylighting, and how to possibly introduce this into their projects.

In an era where energy efficiency, carbon footprints, and Green Building Concepts is leading the global building trends, Mr. Han’s talk was most welcomed. The effect on those in the audience was pronounced, as a renewed sense of purpose, filled the air. It is at events such as this, where cultures and perspectives combine, to bring about leaps in creative thinking by our global Danpal family.

The 10-year marker also was not only an opportunity for Mr. Avila and his team to reflect back on their achievements, but also, to set a renewed focus on delivering on our company’s core objectives. Our Latin American counterparts, recommitted their efforts, to bring the principles of ‘Light Architecture’ to influencers in their region. To provide both technical and marketing support, directly to the professionals who need it most for their projects. Lastly, to always seek out the most effective Danpal solution for their customers, delivered with a smile, the Danpal way.

DANPAL Interview with Héctor Avila – General Manager Danpal Mexico

Hector Avila - Danpal Mexico
Hector Avila – Danpal Mexico
  1. 10 years and Danpal Mexico, has grown into a major contributor, to our global sales effort. Please introduce yourself, and tell us a little more about both you and your team?

Hello, my name is Héctor Ávila Díaz, a Civil Engineer by trade, who after 9 years in the plastics and adhesives industry, took the initiative and started my own company – Tecnoimpacto. I ran Tecnoimpacto for 20 years, we specialized in dealing with various brands of polycarbonates, acrylics, sealants, and architectural panels – but always with a focus on quality over price.

In 2009 I chose to close Tecnoimpacto, and together in a joint venture with Danpal Israel, formed Danpal-TI. From then on, I have focused almost exclusively on Danpal Systems, and on instilling the values of responsibility, professionalism, and loyalty, within my team. I can also say with great satisfaction that during this time, most of my employees, have gone on to put down their very own roots in the company, often permanently. I mention this with pride, as I believe that this stability has allowed the company to move forward with both a sense of confidence and purpose.

  1. Looking back at the past 10 years, what can you tell us about your market in Mexico, and how has it changed/evolved?

The construction industry in Mexico is an important indicator of the ‘state of health’ of our economy, and as such, reflects any instability within the country. Our politics, a major influencer of our economy, has unfortunately not created the conditions conducive, to attract the amounts of investment needed. However, despite this, we have enjoyed an influx of private investment into maquiladoras, shopping centers, educational institutions, corporate transnationals, and other real estate developments. This has created a niche market, which demands higher quality construction materials that are positioned above the “price war”, and this is where DANPALON features.

  1. What would you say have been the major challenges, which you have had to overcome, in your market? If possible, can you also elaborate on the strategy that you employed, to overcome them?

We positioned our Danpal systems against the backdrop of, a range of traditional polycarbonate sheeting, available in the Mexican market. These sheets, have been traditionally known for their low prices, but inferior quality, and so we developed a strategy to combat this. We focused instead on our product’s superior quality, leading performance and recommitted ourselves to provide the best service possible to our customers.

As a result, we can say with great satisfaction that today, the Danpal brand is recognized as such within our industry and is in high demand. Each and every country has its own unique market conditions, but we recognized that we had to target the top architects in Mexico and introduce them to the superior advantages of Danpal.

  1. Many a time, we hear from distributors, that their market is not advanced enough for our more sophisticated panels or systems. Mexico, is also considered to be a developing country, how is it that you have found such success? For example – with selling our more advanced 3DLITE panels?

As mentioned already, we recognized that the traditional limitations in the Mexican market is the tendency for projects to prioritize price over quality. We realized, however, that our Danpal systems, are not direct competitors to these cheaper products. For this reason, our efforts have been to position our products above this segment, toward more profitable projects that demand higher performance. At this higher level, we do not see much competition and so we are able to obtain better results.

A good example is how we have focused on 3DLITE panels, as its unique design, visually sets itself apart from traditional polycarbonate panels. Of course, we find that the 3DLITE option, has excellent light transmission vs thermal efficiency properties, not to mention stand out aesthetics. Building on this, we have prioritized delivering complete solutions, which include all the engineering necessary for a successful end result. Lastly, on completion of the project, we guarantee all our work beyond that offered by other providers.

  1. Moving forward, what sort of changes do you expect in your local building industry, and how do you envision Danpal Mexico adapting to meet these new challenges?

We foresee, that the sector in which we are already positioned and recognized, will continue to demand solutions of higher quality. However, the market continuously seeks new and ever more efficient products, so the continuous development of new Danpal systems is very important. One area of opportunity we have is in facades, where we offer an economically viable alternative against traditional translucent solutions. Compared to traditional roofing solutions, we have a big advantage because of Danpalon’s balanced LT and thermal properties. So, we believe that this will continue to be a very attractive market for us.

  1. We understand that you have taken bold steps, to prioritize the use of specification, as a tool for securing projects. Can you tell us a little more about this, do you have specially trained employees who take responsibility for this?

We find that in Mexico, construction companies often tend to manipulate or change specifications, in favor of cheaper but inferior alternatives. This is another reason, why we choose to focus on top architectural firms, as they often have the power to better retain original specification. As a part of our sales cycle, we place a heavy emphasis on specification, which is reflected by our company’s structure. We have a separate department that deals exclusively with the specification, our specifiers also operate at a high-level, which is reflected in their appearance and ability to liaise with top architects.

  1. We have seen the rise of Green building, Sustainability and Energy Efficiency, as global trends in the architectural field. In what way, has this affected both your marketing and your technical efforts? (how have you or are you adapting to the trend)

The new trend is not only reflected in our segment of the market, but we also find that prospects looking at cheaper solutions are now also seeking ‘Greener’ solutions. The way in which our Danpal systems contribute toward satisfying the need for both natural lighting and thermal control, in a single specification, is definitely in our favor. Other issues such as savings in energy consumption, and the reduction of artificial temperature control, make a Danpal system an attractive alternative.

  1. Lastly, drawing from your experience over the past 10 years, what words of advice can you offer our other global partners who are also in developing countries? Sometimes unstable markets require a more ‘dynamic’ or flexible approach.

My main advice is to never abandon the essence of our Danpal systems, which is that they efficiently INTEGRATE several solutions for a project, into a single product. This presents a Danpal system, in total differentiation against our competition in the market. Which is why I say, that it is not valid to put to Danpal in the same basket, as traditional polycarbonate offerings. This has allowed DANPAL MEXICO, to not only survive but to maintain a strong growth trend.

I firmly believe that each country must develop its own strategy according to its culture, traditions and unique market conditions. The best specification, are those that at the end of the day, are implemented. This is to say that whether it is minimal, or vast and fully-developed if it does not find its way to the right professional in the project… the specification risks being changed.

Providing the Right Light for a Green New World

We find ourselves at the apex, of what can only be considered a Green Revolution within the global building industry. This direction is born out of necessity and is fostering the development of new and innovative green technologies. Shouldering collective responsibility, as a nation of peoples, both first and third world countries alike are seeking better and more sustainable ways to build their cities.

In the continuing research and development by leading global institutions, it has been shown time and time again, what we deep-down already know… that nature knows best. It is best that we as human beings, born of a natural world, strive to keep rooted in our earthly environment as much as is feasible. What does this mean you might ask, and what does it have to do with our built environment?

Well, let’s consider just what it is that life needs to thrive in this world, what are these elements? How about Natural Sunlight, Clean Air, Fresh Water, and Protection Against the Elements. A recent study, looking at just one of these elements (natural daylight), crucial for the quality of life in our modern age, provides us with some interesting data. According to the study conducted by Alan Hedge, a professor in the Department of Design and Environmental Analysis at Cornell, workers in daylit office environments reported an 84 percent drop in symptoms of eyestrain, headaches and blurred vision symptoms, which can detract from productivity.

Furthermore, key findings from the study include:

Controlled daylight unlocks significant health and wellness benefits for office workers. Workers in office environments with optimized natural light reported an 84 percent drop in symptoms of eyestrain, headaches and blurred vision symptoms, which often result from prolonged computer and device use at work and can detract from productivity.

  • More natural light translates to more alert employees. Workers in offices with smart glass reported a 10 percent decrease in drowsiness.
  • Enhanced individual performance is tied to access to natural light. Workers sitting close to a window that optimized daylight exposure reported a 2 percent increase in productivity – the equivalent of an additional $100,000/year of value for every 100 workers or around $2m over the window’s lifetime.

  • Natural light creates a better indoor experience. Workers in offices with smart glass reported a 40 percent increase in daylight quality. Lack of daylight and access to views decreases the ability of the eye to relax and recover from fatigue. Additionally, workers in proximity to windows report 80 percent higher daylight satisfaction.

It is data derived from studies such as these, as well as, the acknowledgment that we are responsible for safeguarding our world for the generations to come that is fuelling our Green New Future. Recently, when pushed on the subject matter, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio had the following to say, “All-glass facade skyscrapers, are incredibly inefficient, as so much energy escapes through the glass. Our glass buildings are the No. 1 cause of greenhouse emissions in New York.”

According to sources, the Mayor intends on introducing a bill banning new construction of glass skyscrapers, as part of his efforts to reduce citywide greenhouse emissions by 30 percent. De Blasio says the bill would require existing glass buildings to be retrofitted to meet new stricter carbon-emissions guidelines. This is part of what is being called “The Green New Deal”, proposed by the Democratic Party, and is a looking-glass for our collective future.

So where does this leave us, how do we get both the benefit of natural daylight, whilst at the very same time, reduce our reliance on traditional glass-façade buildings? Here, we must be bold and seek out those solutions that will not compromise on delivering both our much needed natural light, as well as, reduce the carbon footprint of our buildings. At Danpal, we have made it our responsibility to develop these daylight solutions, and we have made it our business to deliver these systems to the market place.

There are a few key points to consider how we have done this:

  • The Danpalon panels, integral to our building envelope solutions, have been purpose engineered to reduce the immense heat-gain that plagues traditional glass façade buildings.
  • The microcell structure inherent in the panels also serve to minimize heat-loss via usual conduction, convection, and radiation
  • Our extrusion processes of the Makrolon thermoplastic material is energy efficient and uses a fraction of the power needed for traditional glass smelters.
  • All systems have been purpose-designed to offer the best performance for both durability and weight reduction.

We believe that by spearheading the development of our low carbon-footprint daylight systems, we have taken the responsibility of taking the ‘road less-traveled’ as a serious undertaking. Each new project undertaken, is an opportunity to make a better decision, not only for us…but for our environment. Together as a collective, we can all make better decisions, and provide our people with the natural healthy environments they deserve – without compromising our earth.

Skylight Roofing Lets Daylight In But Keeps Weather Out

We want it all! We want the beauty of the outdoors but we don’t want to give up the comfort of our indoor dwellings. We yearn for the bright light outside, but our work is conducted within four walls and it seems as if there’s no way to combine the vitality of the outdoors with the practical efficiency of our inside lives. But don’t give up, because there is a way to welcome the sunshine and daylight of the outside world without trying to convince your boss that you’d be more productive if you worked from a treehouse. Skylight roofing is the answer. It’s easy to work with and easy to install and once you have it, you’ll never want to go back to the old-style roofing that keeps the daylight out of sight.

WEATHER AND SKYLIGHT ROOFING WORKING TOGETHER

The treehouse idea really wouldn’t work at all so before you start measuring the height of the branches where you live or work, give skylight roofing some consideration. Weather is a 24/7, 365-days-a-year presence in our lives. The plentiful daylight of summer gives way to the early darkness of fall and winter. Hot, sunny days share equal time, in season, with bitterly cold ones. You might stroll from your car to the office on a bright spring day, but when the rain is pouring down, you’re sprinting as fast as you can to get inside where it’s dry. Skylight roofing lets the weather be the weather and keeps you comfortable inside. You enjoy the way that the light transforms the illumination in your working and living spaces with skylight roofing, and you’re not inconvenienced when the weather is inclement, because you’re inside.

HOW SKYLIGHT ROOFING KEEPS WEATHER IN BALANCE

Once again, it’s Danpal innovation that has developed the means to satisfy everyone who wants it all. Skylight roofing allows sunshine to enter the building, but it blocks snow, rain, wind, and hail from coming inside. That’s because of microcell technology, which has been perfected so that it provides 100% watertight protection against wet weather. You know it’s raining or snowing outside, but it doesn’t interfere with your activities. You’ll reap the benefits of weather—more exposure to sunlight which will improve your Vitamin D levels, without having to wear sunscreen in order to prevent sunburn; you’ll see better because natural light is so beneficial to vision, but you’re not without access to the familiar features of the workplace and living space. The panel ribs of the roofing are spaced tightly together in order to enhance the effect of the light.

WORKING WITH SKYLIGHT ROOFING IS EASY

Another favorite aspect of skylight roofing is the ease of installation. Danpal offers varying lengths and sizes of roofing, all of which slot into designated spots effortlessly and easily without a lot of work. So, not only is skylight roofing please you, but it’s also a pleasure for the crew that’s installing it.

If you want the best of weather without its drawbacks, skylight roofing is the solution.

Wall Cladding Keeps A Building Healthy And Free From Mold

When making decisions about a building, selections of style and color often dominate the design process. And yet, one of the most important decisions to be made in the planning stages may not get the attention that it should. How will you protect the insulation in your building so that moisture from rain and snow don’t invade the inside of a structure? This vital decision affects the energy efficiency of a building, the health, and wellbeing of those insides, and even the life span of the structure itself. Making the right decision on wall cladding can avoid the problems that result from damp insulation.

DANPAL’S VENTILATED RAINSCREEN SYSTEM: WALL CLADDING AT ITS BEST

Danpal’s Ventilated Rainscreen System or VRS protects insulation completely. With natural ventilation that’s based upon the built-in air gap, the convective motion behind the panels keeps insulation moisture-free. The wall cladding panels are double-notched and watertight. Made of connector-bound microcell technology, the polycarbonate panels are three times lighter than traditional rainscreen cladding. Our customized panel lengths range from the standard 12.0m to longer, depending on your preference and the design of the building itself. Because the connections can be made directly onto the support, there’s no need to use additional supporting framed structures. VRS is light, it’s solid, and it keeps your building’s insulation dry.

Wall CladdingWALL CLADDING AND BUILDING HEALTH

The condition of the insulation in a building possesses enormous control over a building’s wellbeing. Damp insulation that’s been compromised by moisture caused by rain and snow affects the energy efficiency of a building. If the temperature in the home or workplace isn’t consistent and needs to be constantly adjusted to adapt to the cold or heat outside, your energy may be escaping. This will cause your utility bills to increase because you’re paying for energy that you aren’t using. It also takes its toll on the environment, because wasted energy works against the efforts that we’re all making to reduce our carbon footprint as we strive to alleviate the climate stress that the planet is currently facing.

There’s a human element at risk as well when insulation is no longer dry. Moist, damp insulation is a breeding ground for mold and mold can have a very serious impact on the health of a building’s occupants. If mold is growing in your building, people with respiratory ailments may find that their asthma or allergies are worsening.

Damp insulation is an indication that the building is not free from leaks caused by moisture and a leak that goes undetected can cause actual harm to the building itself; in a worst-case scenario, structural collapse may result from this situation. Wall cladding is a frontline defense system that will keep your building healthy for the people who live and work inside it. It will also keep the building itself healthy by preventing leaks that weaken a structure.

Choose Danpal wall cladding that’s designed to keep insulation dry. Your healthy building will be the result!

Controlite® Skylight Roofing: Comfort, Control, Energy Conservation

Skylight roofing by Danpal makes natural light a partner in the building design. In addition to the optimization of light, this skylight roofing system provides a larger surface area; it’s an energy-efficient, sustainable design, and can withstand harsh weather and extremes of temperature.

DAYLIGHT IN, WEATHER OUT: THAT’S THE BEAUTY OF SKYLIGHT ROOFING

Our interior living and working spaces are meant to be comfortable. Walls and ceilings are part of the barrier that keeps the weather from intruding on us; we’re indoor beings and we couldn’t function properly if we had to work and live out in the open, with no escape from cold weather, high temperatures, rain, snow, wind, and hail. Danpal understands that while we appreciate having more daylight inside, we don’t want all of nature’s seasons to intrude upon us. That’s why Danpal’s skylight roofing is built for durability. We use microcell technology so that our panels can deliver complete, 100% watertight protection from the bitter cold, oppressive heat, and rain and snow that weather brings. With skylight roofing, the weather performance is on display outside, but you’re comfortable inside.

CONTROLITE® AND ENERGY CONSERVATION

In a world that has gone from being agricultural to industrial, buildings play a vital role in the way that energy is consumed. With Controlite® skylight roofing, energy used from heating, air conditioning and artificial lighting is significantly reduced so that a building’s environmental impact is less negative. Danpal Controlite® panels can be integrated into the energy-efficient design of a building, making designers eligible for credit points through the green building rating systems.

Clear Roofing Sheets: More Daylight, More Protection

At Danpal, we know our limits. We can manufacture roofing systems that are strong enough to keep out the worst that the weather sends us. We can design cladding systems that protect your insulation from the ill effects caused by moisture invading the interior spaces of a structure. We can build customized products that enable an architect to create imaginative and exciting designs. But natural light, well, that’s not something that even Danpal innovation can recreate. So we’ve opted for the next best thing. We can’t make sunlight, but what we can do is develop products that make sunlight more accessible for indoor spaces. If you’ve been in a structure which features our clear roofing sheets, you’ve noticed the remarkable effect of having natural light from outside illuminate the enclosed spaces inside. It’s an ideal way to benefit from the advantages of natural daylight while enjoying the comforts of the inside. Our clear roofing sheets are made of polycarbonate, a building material that’s so strong and versatile that it has transformed the industry.

Clear Roofing SheetsDANPAL’S CLEAR ROOFING SHEETS BRING DAYLIGHT INDOORS

Natural light doesn’t just feel good. It is good for you! Daylight is part of the holistic pattern that nature has designed to keep us healthy. Deprived of natural light, we may become moody, depressed, and lethargic. Seasonal Affective Disorder, or SAD, is an actual condition that has been documented in people who feel ill because of the lack of sunlight; it’s a condition particularly noticeable in cold climates, where the dark, overcast days of winter seem to hide the sun from view. Dr. Danpal knows just how to ease the symptoms of sunlight-deprivation: bring in the daylight with clear roofing sheets! Polycarbonate sheets keep out the inclement weather and let the sunshine in!

CLEAR ROOFING IS STRONG ENOUGH TO KEEP WEATHER AWAY

If you’re wondering how something that looks like glass can possibly be durable enough to let the sunshine in while keeping rain and snow away, you might not know about the properties of polycarbonate. This innovative building material is 200 times stronger than glass, yet only half as heavy! That’s why it can keep you warm and snug inside while, all around you, the snow might be falling, the rain pouring, the wind blowing and the hail pounding. Clear roofing sheets don’t give way to weather.

CLEAR ROOFING SHEETS SUPPORT ENERGY EFFICIENCY

As the weather seems to become more and more extreme and unpredictable, our society is redoubling our efforts to take better care of our planet. One of the ways that we serve our planet better is by keeping a close eye on the energy that we use. Cities, which are made up of buildings with enormous energy demands, are at the forefront of using daylighting architecture to develop structures that leave a smaller carbon footprint on the environment. Facilitating the amount of daylight that enters our buildings is one of the many ways that we can help to support a more sustainable lifestyle. Natural light enhances illumination, making it possible for building occupants to see better as they work inside with the bounty of light above them. Being more productive while consuming less energy is better for us, and better for the environment.

When you’re choosing building materials, strength and durability are key traits needed in those products. But sometimes the strongest material may not be the one that first comes to mind. For instance, what do you know about plastic roofing?

You might initially think that it can’t measure up to other materials, but plastic roofing is actually one of the most durable and attractive choices that you can make when selecting a roofing system. At Danpal, innovation and technology go hand-in-hand and that’s why our plastic roofing, which reflects the expertise of our research and development experts, is such a good choice when deciding the kind of roofing that will work best for your building’s needs.

PLASTIC ROOFING IS AN EXCELLENT WEATHER DEFENSE

What’s your main concern about the roofing that you choose? Most of us would answer that we want it to be sturdy enough to handle whatever the weather will be for the life span of the roof. We know that a roof is the first target for weather: snow and rainfall, heat beats down, winds blow, and hail hammers the roof.

Withstanding that kind of punishment can’t be easy! But a plastic roof isn’t weak: it’s up to the challenge posed by winter, summer, spring, and fall. It also supports the efficient use of energy. That’s because plastic roofing is made with microcell technology, a strong and durable product that also provides a protective layer to reduce the transfer of heat, allowing for the reflection of thermal radiation.

Plastic RoofingTAKE IT TO THE MAX: MAXIMUM COMFORT AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY WITH PLASTIC ROOFING

We want our homes to be comfortable and that means choosing the roofing systems that will let us live in a dry, warm-in-the-winter, cool-in-the-summer environment. But we’re also very much aware that our choices aren’t just about what we want. We also need to choose based on the needs of the planet. In the past, the environment’s needs were ignored.

We’ve now realized that those unwise decisions were harmful to the air, water, and soil of Planet Earth. Today’s consumer chooses to live in an environment that maintains harmony with our wants and our planet’s needs.

Your indoor temperature should be consistent year-round. If you need to change the temperature in the winter because the living or working space is too cold, you may be losing energy. If you’re changing the temperature in the summer because it’s too hot inside, your insulation may be compromised, allowing energy to escape.

Plastic roofing is designed to support energy efficiency so that insulation stays dry. Dry insulation and energy efficiency are quite a pair and they work together to create indoor spaces that are comfortable and environmentally stable.

THE FINANCIAL EFFICIENCY OF PLASTIC ROOFING

Plastic roofing not only supports energy efficiency; it also benefits our financial efficiency. Losing energy because of wet insulations ends up costing more money in our heating and cooling bills.

When we choose plastic roofing, we’re also choosing economical utility bills, because we aren’t wasting energy. Saving money by making smart building choices is just one of the ways that plastic roofing is the right decision.
